My wife and me are ready to give up living in MN. Moving to Colorado. Wife has so many medications to take I want to explore what Canibus can do to help
her Nephropathy and sleep disorders. Not legal here. Want her to feel better and the toxic meds she take now are killing her. Found many sites that have
remedies to help out with edibles, We use to smoke it 23 years ago. but I have no interest now. I just want to her to stop taking those awful pills.

Maybe part of his moving out is to free you up to move. He's old enough to be on his own.
However, just because he isn't living with you it doesn't mean you have to give up those things the two of you do.

Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
We have 5 kids, 4 have left home and are in long term stable relationships or married, we don't see them as often as we used to, but we all keep in contact and hardly a week goes by without seeing each other. We have the youngest lad still at home, he is 20 and will be 21 in October we don't know when he will fly the nest but he is welcome here until he does, he is in full time work as a welder from the day he left school last September and he has been put in charge of another couple of lads, not bad for a lad that his boss had said of him that he was a "lazy sleeping vegetable" just a year or so ago smile

This weekend I'm off out to a celebration with the eldest lad, then this summer we are all off as a whole family - all 22 of us - to celebrate my wife's 60th and belatedly my 60th too, so just because they move out it is not the end of the relationship with the kids, it changes and grows as they take their place in the adult world.
.
.
.
.
Then comes grand children biggrin
So far we have 7, our eldest will be 18 in May and the youngest is 9 months, they are all a joy to have around and we see most of them every week, we have 4 generations in the family as my wife's parents are still living, Opa will be here this evening for his meal, he is 89 and is still driving around, on a Wednesday he comes over from the next town to visit his wife in the old folks home which is just a few hundred meters from where we live and then he comes here to be fed. Alas Oma has dementia and she does not know anyone from Adam, she had to be institutionalised as she was a danger to herself and others and needs specialised care.

Cutting the CG when you're trying to secure the borders seems highly counter productive to me.

I guess people only walk or fly into the country, no one uses boats anymore?

You just can't resist making political shots can you ?

As you know, he can get into allot of trouble. I was hesitant to post this, should just let sleeping dogs lie.

My aunt and uncle (both passed away) who I lived with during the school year had a son, my cousin being 9 years younger than me. He was in his early 20's and had a girlfriend either 15 or 16. They got into an altercation one day and she turned him in, also for taking her across state lines. To my knowledge, he's still in prison...

So yeah, he needs to be careful with this.

EDIT: I forgot, he also got her pregnant.

It's very difficult. I have brought up six kids, three girls and three boys, two of the boys are my stepsons. My firstborn, a daughter, nearly 50 now, still tries to rip me off for money, also her mother. She has gone years without acknowledging my calls and emails, only asking for money when she does contact me. I had to take a hard line, but it still breaks my heart, remembering her as she was as my little girl.

Parenting is never easy.

Disaster was inevitable. Only teens are allowed to date teens. Even college to HS dating can result in sorrow.

My cousin was already no stranger to local law enforcement, he gave them something really big to put him away for a very long time.

I had cleaned up my act by 18 (except for some heavy drinking), good thing because I went to work for the Dept. of Public Safety (Data Processing is right next to the State Trooper's Training Academy, State Crime Lab to the rear). They took my fingerprints and gave me a lie detector test, although I don't remember any drug testing (I would have passed at any time).

Have not heard anything from him in the past week. Had heard she came down to get him and took him up to St. Cloud for few days.
He will have to learn his own lessons if he gets caught. Not that I wish it on him. He had his run ins with the law a year and half ago.
Illegal discharge of a firearm, BBgun, and illegal use of fireworks. Someone grabbed his BB gun and ran outside and started shooting
at the DQ sign across the road. He claimed responsibility for the BB Gun and the bottle rockets laying on the lawn. He paid the fines
and now adding petty theft charges, will it hard to get a job that does background checks. Just about all do now.

You're son sounds a lot like me when I was his age. I never had a drivers license either but I never asked for rides either. I lived downtown Vancouver so didn't need a car. Eventually he will probably find his way.

We live in New Ulm,MN, Rural MN. Miles from anywhere. Its 13 miles to Sleepy Eye, 33 miles to Mankato. Without a driver license , you rely on everyone else to get there. No such public transport here.

I know your area well. My wife is from Slayton in Murray County. Been in your neck of the woods, New UlM and Sleepy Eye, a zillion times. I don't how a teenager can survive with sanity intact without a set of wheels in that area. Sorry for your predicament with your son. I had to have my 23 year old son (born in Robbinsdale) evicted by the Sheriff. God only knows why some kids go in a cockeyed direction.

Nothing will break a guy quicker than his kids.
God forgive me for saying this, but sometimes it makes you wonder why the hell any sane person would want to have a family.
My advice for what its worth when they reach adulthood leave them to their own devices unless they seek help.
The more advice i try to give my adult kids they do the exact opposite.
Don't get me wrong i love my kids but there's a saying here in Ireland that i think is true the more you give your kids when there growing up the more ungrateful they will be for it when they reach Adulthood.

Thanks Marco1231123, It has not been easy adjusting the to loss. But we are finally getting use to his absence. Even making plans to move along.
Our life here has been a Prison for me, can`t handle it anymore, I am the only one taking of 2 apt buildings with 88 units and its driving me crazy.
Just can`t handle all the death and senior moments I have had to deal with. Almost ready to go Postal on them all.

Really need a coupe months away, about the time we have lost in vacations. Hell, we have have over years worth in the past 23 years on the job.
I am ready to make a Prison break, son can make his own way.

Having read many of your previous posts and other threads, I think you have done well by your son. It is up to him to build on what you did. At some point JimK, you have to accept that it is his life now. He has to face it for himself. All you can do now is patiently watch from the sidelines and respond if he turns to you for help.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

My wife was a classmate of Vin Weber, the former Congressman from Minnesota. Both later enrolled at the U of Minnesota in Minneapolis as students, and they would occasionally drive home to Slayton together on weekends and holidays. Small world. We live in Pennsylvania now, but we fly back to Minnesota for the Vikings games. We waited until we left Minnesota to become first time season ticket holders. How strange is that? We make it a three day weekend holiday eight times a year! Fly first class to Minneapolis, stay at a nice hotel, pop in and visit old neighbors, see the game in the new stadium, eat at some of our old favorite restaurants, and fly back to Pennsylvania. Big fun. Love visiting Minnesota. We forgot how much colder it gets in the land of 10,000 lakes. smile

Been living with my wife of 23 years here Managing Garden Terrace Apts, ready move along. She was a 84 Graduate from Luverne High. She is 53, and would kill me if told anyone. But
she does not frequent my hangouts, so I am safe. Must be rough to live a lifestyle like you and your wife. Our favorite type getaway is as far from human habitation as possible. We plan
all our vacation around heavily populated areas. We are heading for SW Colorado this summer for a couple weeks exploring the Mountains. And then Arches National park and Canyon
Lands National park.

Last 20 years here have warmed tremendously since I grew up in Coon Rapids, MN. Winter has shortened at 1.5 months. Summers are far hotter.
