The US has the safest, most well-run national airspace in the world. Messing with it is stupid.
Who supports this? The big airlines of course. Ask yourself why? They know that they'd be able to then tailor the system to their wants, push out the little guys who get in their way, and dominate the skies.
This would be a disaster for other sectors of aviation, especially general aviation. We'd become Europe, which would be a terrible thing. The freedom and equal access of our skies to everyone is one of the very special things about this country that doesn't exist in most of the world.
