I've be searching Youtube for audio books and I'm finding some great stuff. There's lots of mediocre things such as audio books with not the greatest readers and sometimes certain things like some of the Witcher books were sped up I suppose to avoid copyright. Anyhow I found a novelization of Alien which seems pretty cool. I stumbled upon a website and its Youtube channel that is all rare, out of print, no one cares about them anymore movie novelizations from the 80s-90s. I thought you all might like to take a look. It may be hit or miss with finding something with a decent narrator but its worth a look. They've got stuff ranging from The Rocketeer and Mad Max to Karate Kid and Batman. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2TNJGmfnjsdWMBsG6O-ReA

A lot of Terry Pratchet Discworld books are available there, if you like that sort of thing.

I also found on Youtube a novelization of the movie Alien which I'm really interested in along with other classic stuff like Andromeda Strain and The Time Machine. In the case of Andromeda Strain, why on earth would you read a novelization of the movie when you could read the original Crichton novel (which is, as usual, much better than the movie)?

If you're going to do that then just read the fricking screenplay for the film instead.

I've never heard of a novel being made of a film based on a novel.
Usually what happens is the film and novel simply differ. 2001, Jurassic Park...
I've tried audio books, but I don't really care for them. I enjoy watching adaptations of books, and I enjoy reading them, and I enjoy novelizations of films (like the Star Wars films). I just can't get into listening to someone read to me.

I just can't get into listening to someone read to me. My issue with audio books is that if I am doing nothing else, why not just read the book. If I am doing something else, while listening, I won't be paying enough attention to the audio to get as much out of it.

I did it once and it was because I didn't have the book version any more but someone lent me the tape version. It was abridged, and it was often hard to follow the story when traffic was heavy.
I only listened while driving, of course. Just not for me. I always learned more in school from reading the book/reading the handouts/reading what was on the board than listening to the teacher talk.

Then this thread is not for you guys lol. I happen to love listening to audio books and I like subjects of all kinds, sci-fi, mysteries and what not. I'm not a fast reader and regardless, I like listening to stories in bed. I figured someone in the community might appreciate it or be encouraged to poke around youtube for similar things. I also found some classic old radio theater broadcasts which are well done with great narration and sound effects. I also found a lot of Dean Koontz stuff who I like a lot. It gives me a chance to test some authors out that I'm not familiar with before buying their books. For example I'd like to try Lovecraft out and finally learn of what this Cthulhu lore is about. A lot of those guys seemed to be steeped in the occult so I'm not sure how far I'll get with it.

I thought you were talking about books at first. I've read a novel in one day on several occasions, the first being when I was home sick from school and read the novelization of Back to the Future between just before lunch to just before dinner. Maybe that's it...they read it aloud slower than I read the page, so I get impatient with it. The Jedi Master

Here is a site of public domain audio books https://librivox.org/. Slightly off topic of course.
