I guess they liked it back there.
Think about it, though. You've heard of fighting Irish and angry Scots, but have you ever heard of a discontented Welshman?

24 hours after the initial post and none of our resident Welshmen have popped in? Must have been a good day! Despite my Welsh surname and proximity to the border,I am not Welsh. Not even a little bit, according to my sister who is a genealogist.

The only unhappy Welshman I can think of is Manchester United legend Ryan Gigg's after it was discovered he had been cheating on his wife by sleeping with his sister in law for 8 years: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-wife-four-years-bedding-final-time.htmlPretty shocking for soccer(football) fans like me as he was probably one of the most celebrated/visible Welshman in the world at the time.

The Jedi Master The Welsh didn't get the shaft from the English like the Scots and Irish did.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

The Jedi Master So what you're saying, that since 1400, when a Welsh nobleman, Owain Glyndŵr, led the most serious revolt against English rule, and was put down, they have become resigned to being content? The fight is no longer there, unlike the Scots and Irish.

My name is Jenkins, and my ancestry is Welsh settling in the USA from the late 17th century. However, I did the DNA test from Ancestry and found I'm the highest percentage Irish, with Scot and Welsh thrown in. Second highest percentage was Scandinavian, and then western European. For Scandinavian I'm going with when the Vikings settled in Ireland and then moved around marrying the locals. I've traced my mother and father's side back to the 13th and 14th centuries and most were Welsh and English. Married into German, Native American, and French when they settled in the USA.

I heard of a Welshman saying he was discontented - but then he took it back.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

The Jedi Master The Welsh didn't get the shaft from the English like the Scots and Irish did. I would disagree with this statement. There are more castles in wales than any country in Europe all built by the English to keep the Welsh in under the yolk of English rule, They banned the Welsh language and anyone found speaking it would recieve Very harsh punishments indeed. In fact the Welsh were treated as second class citizens in their own country by the English. Not that I am a grumpy or discontented Welshman of course BTW Dydd Dewi sant hapus pawb (happy saint davids day everyone) SD

The welsh had their period of great discontent with the english, but being closer to them, they went through it a lot longer ago, and have settled down (not to mention intermarried) to a greater degree in the centuries since. (Consider that in North America, "Jones" is considered the typical WASP surname.) .
