Texas? I thought he meant Montana. Where she will cook rabbits, and he can travel between states with no papers.

I was 25 when I got married, we'd already been together 3 years.

It's not really the age that matters so much, it's more a matter of knowing them. Sorry, you just can't really know someone in under a year, and IMO that's the reason so many marriages fail. If it's been 6 months you're both still on "best behavior mode" and not showing the other all your warts and flaws.

If you walk into a marriage blind, thinking it will all work out, you are WRONG.

Marriage codifies what already exists between you, it doesn't create some magic cement to bind you. I watched my sister do that, thinking that getting married would solve their troubles and make life worry-free for them. Surprise, surprise, things got worse. Divorced in like 2 years.

That said, I got married in a Hilton in Fort Lauderdale. Nothing particularly special, really, as we already lived there. smile Took my first cruise for the honeymoon, though, so that was special.

To answer the original question, New York can be gorgeous weather-wise in September, but there's still the chance of a streak of brutal hot weather to trudge through. The edge of the summer heat, though, is gone by mid-September.

I actually prefer October, as by then it's decidedly cooler, but not as rainy as November can be.

I go married in NY in October. Perfect Day, Great Wedding..... the marriage... not so much! biggrin

Well as an on/off wedding photographer, I've seen a few more weddings from the outside than the average. And I would say...

1. You don't just get married for yourself. It's two families joining. Celebrate that or look selfish.
2. If you aren't a princess don't get married in a castle. Life lesson there. Marriage isn't fantasy, it's as real as it gets.
3. Be true to yourselves. This may override point #1 and #2

Here endeth the lesson.

biggrin

Congrats, semmern! thumbsup

Nice to hear some good news. Your families are coming to America for the wedding?

Someone who "looks" local is one who looks like they know where they're going and what they're doing, IE not a tourist. A cop for instance would "look" local as would a taxi driver or a doorman or store owner etc. No one made it about race or ethnicity but you.

September 2017? Are there venues still available that are in your price range and esthetic? Many places book weddings 18 months to sometimes 2 years in advance.

As far as weather? Early September should still be warm with temps in the high 60s to even 80 degrees F. Later September may have storms and obviously cooler temps. It's too early to enjoy the fall leaves though. Weather shouldn't be a problem. Storms can happen anywhere but generally NYC will still be pleasant through September.

Sounds good,

There will only be eight of us, so we dont't need a big venue, just a small ceremony and a restaurant for the dinner afterwards. Then the families will fly home, and we will probably stay in the US for our honeymoon.

NYC'ers friendly?? dizzy Both NYC'ers and Jerseyites are reflexively rude IMO.

IMHO, they are not rude. They are just very direct and aren't afraid to speak their mind. smile

Congrats, Semmern. thumbsup

Since you got other unsolicited marital advice, here's mine...

Never, ever stop dating her.

Good luck.

That is a good one, and it has been my plan for quite some time smile
