Well bought myself a birthday present today. I know it is not a high end weapon like many that have been shown here. It just looked like the runt of the litter in the glass case. I had to give it a good home. I got a

The shop owner gave me $150 for my old H&R Pardner 20 gauge shotgun and took some off the price. Walked out the door a little over $150. I love revolvers. Can't wait to shoot it.

I love revolvers too, at least for recreational shooting. I hate loading box mags!

Are you mostly going to shoot Magnums or Specials through it?

I have to admit I am gun shy of Magnum loads. My arthritis is getting really bad in my hands. Going to start with Hornady Critical Defense 38 Special 110 Grain FTX. Then try some Remington Ultimate Defense 125 grain 38 +P BJHP's. This thing is heavy, recoil might be okay.

Never been much of a revolver person usage wise, but always liked their asthetics. Sure it will love its new home, just be sure to take it out for exercise often, don't want it feeling all couped up. smile

My favorite duty style revolvers are the Colt Official Police and its upscale .357 cousin the Python.

Good luck finding too many gunsmiths who know how to work on older design Colt revolvers anymore though.

This one is pretty strange. I bought it because the deal was so good. It looks like they just sawed off the barrel to make it snub. Very rough surface. Looks like it could rust pretty quick. The barrel is stamped 38 special and .357. In the manual it states not to use +P ammo. I even contacted EAA and they say that what the manufacturer says. I find that very strange. It is no where near as nice as my Ruger's. The new S&W R8's look pretty neat.

It doesn't sound like they hold up to well to .357s, but I wouldn't worry about putting +P Specials through it.

The only guns I'd be worried about shooting +P .38s in are ancient K frame Smiths.

Shot it at the range today. Shot the .38 specials only. Put 75 rounds through it. Felt awesome. Really comfortable. For the money, I think it is a really good revolver. I did better with it than I did my Ruger LCR. Sorry, no pictures. I know, not a proper range report.
