Bottom of the sea
Before I start, my specs. HP mini netbook with win XP home 32bit. CPU ATOM 1.6Ghz, RAM 2gigs, GPU intel GMA 945. It runs F-15, WWII fighters and even mig alley(all are unstable on various degrees, but not enough to be annoying or unplayable)

So basically, I spend an awful lot of money for an original, sealed(I wouldn't have it any other way) copy of USAF with the strategy guide(a large part was shipping and import charges gee!). I did not open it. Theres no point anyway since I'm trying to run it on a netbook. So I got myself isos and mounted them using poweriso. Im mentioning this in case using isos got anything to do with it and to point out that I legitimately own the game.

I hit a brick wall when it came to the menu bug where it renders a large part of the game unplayable in addition to crashing it after persistently trying to click on things. Patch 1.02 did not fix it. Neither did the UI/XP fix. Tried it in compatibility mode too from win98 up to NT. I also found some patches from a user called tackleberry, but Im unsure how they get installed in order to try them(basically, Installing by just copying the files into the games main folder just breaks the game and I get a KERNEL32.DLL error).

Now, I might screwed over the order things must be done, Im not even sure. Things that are there to install are the UI/XP fix, the 1.02 patch, the tackleberry patch, and no cd patches.

Now, on the Super pro 9.4. YES!!!! I do poses it. Its legit. It Just refuses to run. It comes in 4 parts. I installed them one by one on the same folder(new one, not in the vanilla USAF). Then coppied the terrain files from the vanilla game over to super pro. All as per installer's intructions, besides installing them one by one. Trying to run it, it just crashes and I get the typical send don't send window.

What worries me is that the whole mod might be busted(missing or corrupt files etc.). It installs ok, trying to run it is the problem.

Its sad, because I wanted to make a thread about it. Perhaps upload it and make it available, because I had trouble acquiring it.

In any case, any and all threads I found across the web range from relatively to quite old. Some of them mention all the above working under XP SP2, so I might actually start removing updates and service packs as a last resort, IF someone can confirm that this might have any effect.

Im beggining to think that running this on my windows 7 rig might be easier than running it on my XP netbook.

Hi,

run it on win 7 with Tackleberry's patch. Or, the way I do, use a computer which is able to run win me or 98 (you must be able to get W9X drivers for the mainboard and the graphics card - most newer hardware lacks the ability to still get drivers for older W9X OS).

If you like to run the Super Pro a old machine with a W9X OS is the best way to do it. Have tried many other solutions, but nothing was really stable or it had graphical glitches.
It runs best with old graphic cards still using AGP.

P.S: The machine I use is an ASRock AM2NF3-VSTA with a Dualcore Athlon X2 250 3000Mhz (ADX250OCK23GQ). The graphics card is a Geforce 6800GT AGP. This is the high performanced system you could stable run W9X at. This board is also able to run Phenom II X4 processors, but W9X didn't like it. With Windows ME you could run up to 1GB of RAM, for 98 patches to do this are required. I also run a Voodoo II SLI system with this board without any problems, but for many games nGlide wrapper is the better solution, cause you could force the games to run in much higher resolution as they were able back those days. Yes nGlide runs without any problem on a W9X based system (also its stated to run only at XP and above)! I told the author about it two years ago as I built this system. Costs me many sleepless nights for about half a year to find out what is the maximum performed stable system to get my old simulators running at.
