Yep, or even a Who's Dead Now thread like the books, or music ones.

Agree.

It was "fun" for lack of a better word at the end of 2016 because sure, that year was weird like hell. But now it's getting to be the norm, and "not reading" a thread doesn't help in the topics list.

No need to dilute a website where posting traffic is already declining.

And correct me if I'm wrong but "Community Hall" is supposed to be where anything can be discussed except for politics.

There is currently ONE obituary thread on the front page of CH.

At least 5 TV / Movie related threads.

Three or four food related.

A couple about automotive.

One about dogs.

Let's make sub-forums for all these.

Or maybe just stop whining?

1 too many.

Multiple constructive suggestions have been made, if you're really keen on reading obits, you'd take one of those up, or discuss constructively. Looks like you're just having a scream, so I'll leave you to it.

I agree that in principle anything is fair game, but in general I prefer my leasure time activities (which includes SimHQ) to be uplifiting. I don't think we've had a single day in the last two months without at least one dead person on the first forum view page.

That's rich, it was you calling one obit an endless stream. When baseless hyperbole is all you have then I guess you have nothing.

I don't see everyone that dies listed, just those significant to our generations and interests. Get used to it, that's life and something people talk about.
It is odd that so many get reported, but most aren't that obscure is what's odd about it. It doesn't seem to just be the media stepping it up. There may have been a couple of names that seemed more "niche" talked about, but most have been notable.
It's CH, there are threads that you don't participate in posted all the time. Add these to those you ignore if you don't want to chime in. I've passed up on the ones I wasn't familiar with.

+1 Raw!

In the case of Richard Hatch, a lot of us on SimHQ are science fiction fans so I felt posting about his passing was appropriate.

Since this thread has already not shown respect for a person, like these threads are meant to do. I am curious, since I haven't watched the news for a couple of days, was Richard Hatch's death even mentioned? Usually I hear it on the morning radio show, but may have missed it there also.

I don't follow the news a lot and appreciate the occasional heads up and background information in here.

Have fond memories of watching Battlestar Galactica and then getting out my bucket full of LEGO and making spaceships and having big space battles.

I watched that entire season of the original BSG with my dad back in 1978-1979. I have fond memories as well.

Of course in retrospect at my age now, the original show was full of the typical 1970's campiness but it still has its moments.

He will never whine again frown runningdog

This morning I had to put my Jack Russell to sleep, we made an appointment with the vet last night but he could not do it then so we had to go at 8am this morning. He had not eaten or drank for 2 days, he got out his basket at 10am yesterday went outside and was totally confused trying to find the door to come back in. when he lay down again he never got out his basket until I lifted him on to the vet's table this morning.

I am just back in from burying him, we planted a bush on his grave to mark the spot.

He was 17 and was my step daughters dog, when I first met him 12 years ago he adopted me and has barely left my side since then, I'll miss tripping over him, standing on him etc. as he always found away to stand exactly where you were going to step next smile

He was the most tolerant dog with children I have ever seen, they could prod, pull, push and generally abuse him, sometimes I had to protect him from them smile

I have seen how vicious he could be, he could turn rodents into mince in the blink of an eye, he really had a thing about them smile

Last week my wife took this pic of him with our youngest granddaughter

and last night I took this when he got up to stretch:

Goodbye Jack you are missed.
