I have a realistic pilot (who is on like, life 792 now), three that i have competing from three different squadrons through-out the war, and one that I use to just "blow```stuff```up" with.

I've been trying to adjust the trim on some of those planes but it seems to reset to "on" each time I come out of time compression. It also seems to go right back to where it was originally, so I have no idea how it's suppose to work.

I dunno may be a dumb question, but anyone give me a clue,or a link?

The only Autotrim in WWI planes was when the ground crew adjusted the wiring and either tighten or loosened it on the ground before the pilot took off. As a result, there should be no Autotrim while in the air on WWI planes.

Yep. Maybe my question was not lucid enough, but that is exactly what I'm asking, how to turn it off.

Apparently everyone is using it because it is defaulted to on. Every aircraft in the squad is set to the same exact trim as if calibrated with computers. LOL.

I'm trying to turn it off so that,(for argument sake) my ground crew CAN adjust it to my liking and it won't mysteriously re-calibrate at the start of each flight, or in mid air. That is what it is doing right now. I want to default it to off. Even with my pilot that I have set with full immersion, there should not be an auto-trim. Right?

For my other pilots I utilize other options that are offered and fly easy-mode in the competition(level of immersion and realism are optional in this game, so that each player can tune the game to their liking). In that I also want to adjust trim to my liking without it re-calibrating every flight

In short, if the option is there (which it seems to be) I want it off. I fly. I hold my stick to where the plane flies to my liking, I have my ground crew adjust the pulleys and cables to my liking, and that is that. If it's not quite right, we rinse and repeat a few times until it is.

Honestly, as far as immersion goes? I can't imagine that pilots did not tinker with their planes all the time. I know that if I were flying, I'd be dicking around with it constantly. Heck, we did when I was in.

What I'm trying to avoid is the re-calibration at the beginning of each flight, or in mid air, and that is what it appears to be doing.

From theaerodrome website: "A few aircraft (SE5a, Snipe, 1 1/2 Strutter come to mind) had in-flight adjustable horizontal tail planes".

Good thought Gaw. Was thinking the same, but nothing there. I looked at some of the text files too, but don't want to mess with anything that I'm not sure of. All I see is the flight model settings (Easy, Medium, Authentic). Going to try to test today to see if it works differently depending on model, but to date I've not seen any difference for that particular toggle.

Jim. THAT is something I didn't know. Pretty interesting that the impetus of in-flight trim controls occured way back then.

you're right....I was remembering auto mixture. maybe you have the auto trim key function bound to something that is activated somehow????

There is an auto-trim toggle listed key commands (Cntrl-A). As a possibility, it might get set by mistake if you "miss key" setting autopilot (Cntrl-Shift-A)?

I think you may be on to something, there, guys. Makes sense."Miss-key", or a binding problem could absolutely be a probability.

I don't manually actuate AI Pilot. I have it bound to a 4-way on my throttle, and it may be bouncing the "A", or perhaps the delay is long enough for the game to see the "A" as a stand alone key press. Being bound to a very common, single letter such as "A" , for someone like me with many, many HOTAS bindings is like asking for problems me thinks.

Going to re-map AI pilot to a single function button and re-map "auto-trim" to a less common and more complicated Key-press (maybe a three key combo)in game.

See how it goes, but that may be it.

Very much appreciate your thoughts on this.
