How's the overall progress coming? Are the updates meaningful and encouraging?

The progress is steady albeit slow, but that's obvious as the team behind it is very small. The updates are coming regularly, at least one each month. Last time we've got A/A refuelling, improved LHD model and some other tweaks. Now we've got some additional MFD functionality - added RWR, improved radar modes (bar and scan width settings). And of course new and improved cockpit model. I'm still waiting for fixes for single/training missions as few of them are still broken. When that's working the main focus will be put on the dynamic campaign.

Well, VR is the future of our hobby and they are embracing it. There is nothing wrong with that. Frankly, I won't buy a new sim now unless VR is either present or there is clear intent to add it. I purchased CAP2 because it featured VR at this early phase in development.

Well, we never got a chance to fly the Harrier in the Falklands because THAT sim went belly up, but it looks as though this might actually be released. It really does look good. And that is one of my favorite jet fighters.
From what you can tell, might it come out within the next year?

The game is out right now (in Early Access though), full release might be still far away as there are many aspects that need ironing out. If it was fully released in 2018 I would be pleasently surprised.

A Falklands mod has been suggested. I'm sure one of the devs said he had spoken to Dante (Jet Thunder) about working on one.Of course this may all have happened in a dream but I'm sure it's real and happened on the Steam forum.

*EDIT* It wasn't a dream,I just found this posted by one of the devs...

Quote:
It would be a no-brainer to do a Falklands scenario wouldn't it? Once we've got CAP2 complete I'll have to have a beer with Dante from JT and see what we can work out smile

Probably said in jest but one can dream. Oh,not that again... dizzy

The Sea Harriers and RAF GR3 Harriers that served in the Falklands are totally different animals than the AV8Bs modeled in CAP2. I suppose a talented modder could mod the skins, but it would be more of a challenge to build an aircraft with the systems that would have been present in the early 1980s versions of the harrier operated by the Royal Navy and Air Force.

In any event...development of CAP 2 has been much slower than I had hoped. Despite promises to provide near "daily" updates on development status, the developer tends to disappear for months at a time. The state of the sim shows there is a lot of potential, but in my honest opinion its future is not looking good.

Jet thunder.

Lol.

Remember when that was a "thing?" smile

that said, I'll take slow development of CAP2 over the "development" of Jet Vaper Thunder, any Day smile

Yeah, I've gotten my hopes up way too many times about flight sims and games that were coming out...and then never did. Or when they did...they SUCKED. That's why I just can't hit the buy button on this thing, no matter how good it looks. But yeah, it's looking promising and I'll be watching this one.

I thought you two guys were pretty negative... but that's why I haven't purchased it yet too... fingers crossed though but I don't want to get my hopes up...

The other two I was keeping an eye on are the SevenG F/A-18 and the Longbow one forget what it was called...

Same here. Seven G is "almost" out - "Beta version will be released soon. No manual but youtube tutorial, 50% price down." as stated on the website. But knowing the history of "soon" in sim world we may wait bit longer.

Wasn't the Longbow sim - Combat Helo - discontinued?
