Anyone else suffer from this, it's weird how it's just starting to hit me this last year. Never had the problem before. Granted I'm only playing console games now, but playing CoD campaign and even Tital Fall left me so nauseous in 20-30 mins I had to shut the game off.

I don't seem to have the issue in MP because the view is different.

Seems it's pretty common issue.

I don't have an issue with it, but one of my past girlfriends would get sick watching me do flight sims. I spoke to someone who's a pilot in the Navy and he said that it wasn't uncommon, and they called it "simulator sickness." They said it was because your sensations didn't match what your eyes were seeing.

I can't play any kind of first person shooter. It started about 10 years ago. It feels like a middle ear thing. I start get light headed and then like a ringing in my ears. It feels like a sinus headache and pressure right behind my earlobes. The only thing that makes it go away is total silence and laying down. The quick head movement looking up and down, left and right do it for me. A staircase scenario is the worse.

Yeah... I get sick driving my own car so go figure.

The only FPS that I ever played was Jedi Knights. The reason being that my Pentium II aaaallllmost ran it smooth, but not completely. Apparently that choppy frame rate made it ok, because years later I tried to play it again on a more modern and capable machine... and the fun lasted 20 minutes.

To this day I say to my self "I should try a frames limiter to make it choppy and see if I can play again"... But I just don't, I'm lacking balls willing power.

EDIT: Also, the advised on that page are worthless in my experience. Tried them all, puked just the same.

I guess I got lucky with genetics in that category. I don't suffer motion sickness with any gaming or any kind of travel whether it be on a ship, train, car, plane, etc.

There's also some psychological aspect to it. I don't get sick on planes (normal stuff, not stunts)... and that's pretty much the only place. smile What I imagine is happening is that my brain knows what's going on as "oh yes, that's stick to the left... now we bank..."

A friend of mine can play or do whatever convulsed psychedelic stuff he wants, but he can't stand flight sims for some reason. confused Magic stuff.

When we would go to Cedar Point I would still feel like I was on a ride while driving back home. Gone on some fishing charters in Lake Superior and hit good sized waves. I was okay until I got on land. I felt like I was still going up and down. FPS games do the same thing. To the point that the sound of the PC tower fan would actually make my head hurt. It has sucked at times. Flown in Piper Cub float planes, a Cessna 172, a big airliners and never had an issue.

Yes, I get motion sickness in some FPS type games. It seems (for me) to be related to the FOV being too narrow. In games where I can widen the FOV, the issue has always gone away.

that's exactly what the article states, your eyes see movement but your inner ear doesn't feel anything so it releases toxins which makes you sick.

I admit that I get queasy watching movies that employ 'Shaky-Cam' (Barf-o-rama) cinematography. The same goes for games. There are games like Flashpoint Campaigns that are constantly jittering s they centre on units around large maps. I get a headache within minutes. The solution for me is to zoom out so that the entire map is shown. The resolution is crap, but it beats playing with a migraine.

I got it bad in GTA games, Oblivion and Borderlands. Not sure why in Borderlands, but in the other two I think it's because the movement and animations don't really match up well.
Even tried those bracelet things for nausea, sitting further back etc. Nothing I tried helped. Most games I'm fine.

Some of the fighting scenes in Saving Private Ryan make me sick. GoPro videos too

I don't get motion sickness, but I'm extremely sensitive to certain noises both in-game and in regular life.

Having someone talk to me or otherwise distract me while I'm playing can actually makes me disoriented and nauseous.

I have 5 speakers and if the sound image does not match the visual I get disoriented. I remember after a trip down Lake Superior in our 180 foot buoy tender all of us still walked down the dock with out sea legs still in effect.
Watching some one else playing a FPS has always messed with my head and I have to look away to reset. the effect is not so bad if i'm the one in control and TrackIR took getting used to when flying.

I've never gotten any kind of motion sickness from any non-VR video game, but I did experience a bit of vertigo while demoing a rock climbing sim on the Oculus Rift.

most 1st person shooters are unplayable for me, i'll get dizzy within minutes and will be sick the rest of the day

some more "wide open" games i am ok with, like Arma, Mechwarrior, Delta Force, etc...

Flight sims are fine

I'm afraid of heights but have never had any problems while using any flying machines on the computer. Now i know that's different than becoming dizzy while seeing motion on the screen but i never thought that would effect anyone while sitting at their computer.
