We have yet to see a film costing over $200m make less than $100m. That's what I want to see happen.

The Jedi Master Wasn't that the case for John Carter? http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=johncarterofmars.htmBib is right. John Carter had a huge budget and it bombed badly. The 211 million it made overseas wasn't nearly good enough for the film to break even.

That The Day the Earth Stood Still remake from 2008 was bad. Maybe not the "absolute worst", but a contender nevertheless. It lost at the Razzie's against Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which was tough competition for sure.

It lost at the Razzie's against Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which was tough competition for sure. The big difference between those two films is that Crystal Skull still managed to make a killing at the box office while the Day the Earth Stood Still remake barely broke even. I guess fans of Indiana Jones will watch anything that has Indiana Jones in it regardless of quality. It's like how Disney could probably make a Star Wars movie with Darth Vader taking a dump for 2 hours and it will still make tons of money.

Chucky, apparently not While John Carter bombed, I didn't think it was really that bad of a movie. Certainly not Battlefield Earth bad. The reviews weren't terrible, just not great, and I think the marketing really failed it.

I'm surprised Terminator: Genisys was on there. It wasn't that bad, it was just forgettable. And yeah, Predator 2 has some problems but overall I thought it was a worthy effort.

I didn't think Pandorum deserved to be on that list but yeah, there's a lot of stinkers in there.

According to your link John Carter cost $250 million and made $284m, that's a $34 million profit. I happen to love that movie. Saw it in theater, watched it twice since and I have it no my DVR right now. I'll buy in on BluRay whenever I find a bargain. I think it's failure was less due to the movie itself and more due to poor marketing. Dropping "Of Mars" from the title was a huge mistake for one thing.

It's usually a 50/50 or 55/45 split. The studio gets an even lesser cut for international box office sales.

And marketing costs are not included in the production budget. These days, they can be up to 3 times the production budget.
I actually kinda liked John Carter as well. Certainly didn't deserve the reception it got.

Why on earth are people ragging on Event Horizon and Equilibrium? Not bad films at all imo. there's far worse out there/ Rag on Prometheus, Signs ( ), all of the Transformers movies (Labeoouf sucks!), and many more which I haven't got time to list. I loved Pandorum.
