Hello,
I plan to build my own control stick and it is going to be more or less copy of B-5 control stick used in many USAAC/USAAF fighters as P-40, P-51 and P-47 to name a few.

http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/usaaf-5-control-stick-grip-51-47-153952495

I am going to make one from epoxy putty but I do not know the proper dimensions. There are many pictures of this stick, but I cannot find the one with dimensions on it. Can you help me with that? Or perhaps do you have technical drawings, plans or blueprints of B-5?

Kind regards,
sunrrrise

Internet
Get one these and use their grip, modify as you want. Will save a lot of "sculpture" work. smile

BTW - There are topic of a guy who make this grip in 3D print, maybe he share drawings, or sold printed pieces.

Hi,
thank you, I already have Aviator joystick, the first one AV8R-01 to be precise. But I thought about using that one:

The very old joystick from 8-bit era.

It is good as a base (except I have to add the trigger), but I want to build mine looking exactly like the one from P-40/P-47/P-51.

It is funny cause I have found technical drawing for KG-12/13, but there are no drawings for B-5 available in the Internet.

EDIT: Thank you very much for the link!!!

I have a B-5 grip, but haven't gotten around to taking molds of it yet but it's in really good shape. It's original B-5, not the B-6 most people show up with. You can tell them apart by a flathead screw thing on top. B5 does not have it, B-6 does.

Mine looks like the one of the right in this pic:

...like this:

I can take any measurements or pics of it you need, and in the near future will be making castings of it in black resin

Hi,
it would be great! Can you please take a few pictures of your B-5 grip with ruler next to it? This way I can take any measurment in GIMP or Paint.NET programs:) I'd like to have the views from the side, the top, the front and the back. And maybe from the bottom smile Can you please post it here? Or send to my via PN or mail?

No problem, I'll get a scaled 4 view set of pics later and I have calipers to measure critical dimensions. Do you prefer inch or metric?

Edit: too late, did it in inch because that's what it was designed in so the numbers work out clean (for imperial measurements...). Sample pic below, full album here: https://imgur.com/a/WBoUW

Thank you, LocNar!!!:-)

BTW. this grip looks funny to me when you compare it to sturmuberkiller KG13 grip, but I like them both.
