btw, confederate flag as we know it was never used during the civil war period.

The Confederate Flag a we know it is a version of the Army of Northern Virginia's battle flag. The diference being the original was square not rectangular. It was used very much so in the Civil War. The Confederacy had three diferent National flags. The first was the Stars and Bars, which in battle was to easily confused with the Union Stats and Stripes. It was then changed to an all white flag with the ANV's battle flag in the upper left hand corner. This flag was to easily mistaken for the surrender flag. It was changed by adding a red stripe on the right end of the flag, they called it the Blood Stained banner. It was probably never carried into battle though.

Yes, depicting a poor, nearly naked, skinny Guy being brutally nailed to a Cross is clearly 18+ and should be censored. Personally, I would favor a Religion, that has a happy End for the Founder. That's why I worship the flying Spaghetti-Monster... which brings me to an Idea:
If you can do all kinds of normally forbidden Stuff, if you call it Religion - we should work on WOFF being accepted as one.
First: OBD can save a lot of Taxes
Second: It already IS a Religion to most of us, anyway.
All Hail OBD!

Okay, Joke-Box closed. The Wiki-Link was very interesting - and I say that as a German... I had no Idea, that so many Symbols have a Nazi-Background. This Gun-Scope-Crosshairs, then this other Symbol, that looks like a Techno-Music-Label... Skull and Bones...
To be frank: We, the civilized Society, are giving up Terrain too easily by letting Extremists take over Semantics.
Example Skull and Bones:
For me as well as pretty much everyone else, Skull and Bones means Pirates. Just because the SS misused this Symbol for their own "Brand", that doesn't mean anything to me.
Skull and Bones will always be associated with Pirates.
A Rune is a Rune, and Crosshairs are for precise Shooting.

...as for the initial Question:
We are only talking about the Swastika, so I don't really care if it is a real "Hakenkreuz" or not. I know, everything else will be extremely historically accurate - and it's the "everything else" that counts... the technical Details, the Landscape, the Handling of the Planes, the Sound...

Hi all,
I think this thread has been adequately answered, for the time being at least, by 'Pol' and is at risk of becoming 'political' in nature, which is a SimHQ 'no-no'.

As such and with respect the thread is now locked.
