These United States of America
It must be an amazing feeling though to experience the many secluded parts of Africa though not seen by man. There are areas that must foster pre-historic atmosphere and feelings. I'm sure there are those special areas that could make one think "This must be like what the Garden of Eden looked like." I would love to visit those areas but I wouldn't want to live there with all the unusual and dangerous flora and fauna. I've always been fascinated with mysteries including cryptozoology with Mokele-mbembe being one of them. Imagine what it would do to your senses and psyche to already be in a unique, old environment and then you happen to see a dinosaur-like creature! I appreciate the almost spiritual experience or sense of wonder that I hear many people have when they visit the good parts of Africa. I feel the same way about the few times I've gotten to visit and live for a short time in New Mexico. There was something about that place that even as a kid I and other recognized that I felt more alive or that I had come "home."

I know only the Southern part of Africa, and have to say that it can be incredibly beautiful, but also very unforgiving, if you live there and aren't simply travelling through as a tourist. I was there in the early seventies which was probably not the best of times.

Victoria Falls, an amazing natural wonder, was little more than an armed camp at that time.

My time in Third World countries has shown to the opposite.

Tourist areas are cleaned up to keep the dollars coming in. Away from them trash is just thrown wherever.

Thanks for the tip kaa.

You're welcome ! but don't miss Aix though, a classy and charming town, lots of young folks and pretty women doing some shopping.
