I agree with Striker, and also think you're overgeneralizing things, Krupi

I for one have a 0% warn level on the ED forums, but I just can't post there anymore for the attitude and atmosphere that is there on that forum. In fact, I'm absolutely terrified that they'll find out my name there, ban me and go to the end of the world to block all my keys and support help.

And the fact that a customer feels downright threatened by the seller is scary and fascinating at once. And the worst part is? I'm not the only one.

You can't deny that this discourse, and even your post (which is pretty reasonable IMHO) would be immediately be removed from exsistance, no warning and everybody would be banned. A moderator should MODERATE, and that is just not happening there. Even basic netiquette isn't followed by some moderators.

Certainly, the attitude here is mostly negative and I agree that that is a shame. However, I believe that is the result of the lack of healthy discussion. A healthy discussion with multiple opinions would even things out eventually, that is the reason why freedom of speech is so great.

But when the official forums punish any form of criticism by anyone on the entire internet, than that is just Chinese Government levels of censorship. That stuff certainly looks great when the powers that be open their curtains in the morning, but it won't change the opinion of the people themselves.

For that you need to allow a healthy discussion in which you convince the nay-sayers of your opinion, or at least make them understand the decision-making behind it.

But like I said before: Mentally, that guy is just too far gone.

PS: ED/TFC, if you guys are reading this: It would also be nice if you guys would hand-out review samples to people that actually review the content of the modules, its pro's and cons, instead of useless sites like Mudspike or fanboy vloggers, just sayin' - A former potential L-39 and Mi-8 customer

I can honestly say that I have yet to come across a thread that has led to a ban when the posters have all just simply being polite, as soon as they start to swear and just whine then yes I have seen bans been handed out. Heavy handed, yes.. scary, err.. not really.

Abide by the rules people.

You've just cited the cause and effect.... explain to me again how it's SimHQ's fault?

What kind of forum has the need for Rule 1.13 and actually enforces it?

And how do you explain this:

My last post there was on 12-05-2015 and then 11-14-2014 before that. Yet I've earned a 40% warning that never expires. Really? No PM regarding the warning, no citing which forum or thread the warning was from, and really, how does me posting on ANOTHER site affect my posting priviledges on ED's site? No "power trip" indeed!

Can someone also post the YouTube video of that guy who complained about how his bug report got closed without understanding why? He got banned for that video...

EDIT: Makes sense that you never came across it Krupi, everything that is disliked by certain mods, but isn't against the rules just gets deleted instead.

Would be nice if SiTh would perma ban the Hungarian lawyer.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

after almost a couple of years without any new DCS modules I got my kickstart reward Spitfire module.

It handles atrociously on take off and I was so put off, that for once, I decided to browse a thread at the official consumer support forum

usually I don't browse any thread posted there , but as I run LockOnFiles, I feel I have at least to keep up to date, so I glance over to see if there is anything I should see and the front page and promptly leave.

I found a thread about the Spitfire, and indeed, I found exactly what you described, people tiptoeing around the delicate & rather embarrassing subject of "take-off", clearly afraid to say anything too strong . It was really unpleasant to read it, and completely inconclusive.

I don't know what is the fun of posting like that ?

and why worry so much ? posts will be deleted and edited out and the thread sanitized in no time, and you get banned in due course.

every website has its charms, unfortunately, I cannot see what is the charm of the official consumer support forum if one has to be constantly afraid of offending sensibilities.

Sorry to say this Tom but I think that is all on your head because I have seen none of that and that is the thread I spend most of my time in.

The issue with take off was answered by Yo-Yo, people are taking off with full power and that really is not a fun experience. Yo-Yo showed a video of himself taking off at 8 boost without the need for stick input and only working the rudder and since I have adopted this I find it quite predictable on take off.

Regarding tip toeing around the issue, can't say I saw any of that.. a few people fed up because they were taking off incorrectly and then an official from ED showing how it should be done... Hardly a reason to start calling for a witch hunt now is it.

don't be sorry to disagree Krupi, this is SimHQ and here, disagreements are all part of being a member of a forum.

I cannot comment about Yo-Yo demo since I did not return to browse the forum

as for being able to see the tiptoeing around the forum:

when I worked as a trainee at an airline some three decades ago , I had a friend who worked on 737-200 engine testing, I asked him how he handled the noise, he answered "noise, what noise ?" wink

Haha... nice try Krupi. I'm waiting to see what you have to say regarding my response to your posts. I'm hoping the delay is just you formulating your reply and not avoiding it altogether.

I haven't avoided anything... I don't have a response to what you wrote.

It there forum it's there rules. If someone is trying to damage there product with misinformation then they can do what the hell they want on there forum.

None of you have actually shown me anything that makes me think that the ED forums are a bad place.

And Tom you clearly never experienced the likes of the banana forum, I can honestly say I would take what we currently have than ever see it devolve into something as incredibly toxic as that place.

I mean seriously what kind of response is that, I don't have anything to formulate I have said my piece.

No need to be so confrontational

I don't think it is a bad place - I just believe it is not a forum smile

I have very little (or no) experience outside a few forums, mostly because of LockOnFiles and skin making I barely have any free time.

SimHQ is
LockOnFiles is
CombatAce is
SimOuthouse is
Avsim is
A2Asimulation forum is

in fact - those that run that website openly post that theirs is a website to support their product and that the freedom to post is curtailed by that.

to prove it : that the developer feels free to ban anyone for what anyone post an any other site, if they deem that damaging to their product.

your freedom to post therefore is limited by the damage your post may cause to the product they sell

disclosure: I support Eagle Dynamics thru my activities as a skin maker and by running a free and unbiased website called LockOnFiles.com that hosts files and provides assistance to their community, for free.

Fair enough, I can appreciate that and I do not like that what you post impacts your rights on another forum.

I think it would have been quite an inflammatory piece for them to decide to bring in that rule.
