https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3001310#post3001310 I'm a bit puzzled by this news. So 2016's main achievements have been: - The official release of the Bf-109 - The addition of 2 rocket types for the Fw-190 - The beta release of the Spitfire 2017 will be focused on: - releasing the Normandy map - adding new damage model to the WWII planes - adding bombs and one external fuel tank to the Spitfire. What about: - New caucasus map - DCS 2.5 - Finishing Nevada (they are working on a new lighting system for Normandy, will that be used for Nevada? Does it mean they have to re-do all the Neavda textures as they are doing for Normandy???) - F-18 - FIXING THE DAMN A-10C 3D MODEL ERROR? They have the courage of advertising this module on discount, and the campaign for it, with a borked 3D model.... If that's really all they are going to focus on, well, as disappointing as it is, have they finally decided to focus on one thing at a time?

DCS: Normandy 1944 will be the first DCS World map to use our new lighting system. As a result, we have had to remake all landscape textures and objects. So does that mean that Nevada will not be updated to the new lighting system until Normandy is out? I just guess but the new lighting system is in 2.5. So we get Normandy released along with 2.5 (new lighting) but for playing Nevada (old lighting) we have to start 2.0.x and for Caucasus still 1.5.x? Or is the lighting system linked to the map we play and not to the DCS version? It confuses me ... A LOT.

to me, adding the Python V/Derby ER with LOAL/LOBL modes , Elbit Dash HMDS to the F-15C/D was the high point of the year, it was a game changer. Care to elaborate? Do you mean they did implement HMS to F-15C?

Guys, guys, guys!!.... Come on now.... you're not being fair! If you look at things, 2017 will bring 2.5, Hornet, Normandy, WWII, SoH, completed Nevada, and all those other good stuff.... Unless they can't due to unforseen problems. Then "things are subject to change." Then it'll be 2018 for realz this time.

Wow. Just, wow. Another year where ED accomplishes virtually nothing.
As usual, wake me up when F/A-18 is released - NOT beta, but actually finished. 'Til then I'll be in F4 BMS skies. . . Quoted for truth. Mick.

World War II products don't interest me, personally I was hoping we'd get an update on things they said in January of last year that we would get in 2016 in 2.0. And to avoid the potential perception that I'm bashing I'm simply stating I would like updates on what was intended for 2016, I'm in no way bashing ED. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p...cts#post2659915DCS World 2.0 in 2016 will offer new clouds and weather effects; improved HDR; deferred lighting (more light sources); new FLIR system; an improved Air Traffic Control (ATC) system; enhanced explosions, over-wing vapor, and rain on canopy; procedural grass and vegetation; improved multiplayer with dedicated server support; a new Air Combat Generator with enhanced user control of air-to-air generated missions; new custom overlays option for the Mission Editor, and a new Virtual Reality (VR) tab in Options which will improve the DCS World experience in VR. I can't remember the last time we got any update on the status of: -New Clouds and weather -Deferred lighting (maybe this is what they're talking about with Normandy) -New FLIR -Improved ATC -Enhanced explosions -over-wing vapor -Rain on Canopy -Dedicated server support In parallel we continue to work on the F/A-18C Hornet. We are currently working on the cockpit and setting up its functionality. Later in 2016 we plan to release the Hornet as an “Early Access” product that will allow you to participate in early testing. We are all "kinda" aware of the status of the F/A-18C although I'm not sure how they judged early access in 2016 availability. Our goals for DCS World War II remain unchanged and are still focused on a stable of WWII aircraft in addition to a 1944 map of Northern France with period ground units. We hope to finish the Spitfire IX in mid-2016 followed by the P-47D at the end of the year. We will also continue to fine-tune the P-51D, Fw 190 and Bf 109. Spit didn't make mid 2016 and the P-47D I would guess isn't close due to no updates in a while. To complete the update to all DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3 aircraft, we plan to add a new 3D external model for the MiG-29 with the incorporation of the Professional Fight Models (PFM) to both the Su-33 and MiG-29. Don't fly FC3 aircraft but I believe the PFM for the Su-33 and Mig-29 haven't been released (please correct me if I'm wrong). We have also been working on the DCS: Strait of Hormuz map with the primary focus on F/A-18C operations. For this release we are working on our new T5 dynamic mesh terrain technology that we believe will bring this map a new dimension in quality and detail. No mention of SOH for a while, I'm guessing that's because the F/A-18C and SOH will likely make early access at about the same time. We see 2016 as a big year for aircraft carrier operations as we plan to release both Nimitz-class aircraft carrier and Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier modules. Both of these modules will be incredibly detailed models with working elevators, interior hanger bays, animated ship systems, and the ability to walk around inside the ships. These will be optional modules that would replace the existing ships currently in DCS World. Guess this is moved to 2017, but again I can't recall any mention of the updated carrier operations in a long time. We see 2016 as a very exciting time for DCS World with the growth in maps, aircraft, and features. When we include all the new aircraft and map modules being developed by our talented 3rd parties, 2016 will be an exceptional and fun time in the skies of DCS World. 2016 wasn't a terrible year, we got an update to Nevada which I'm happy with (although taxi lines at Nellis, Groom, and Creech look terrible and unrealistic now). Love the F-5, and of course still flying the A-10C. But other than those couple of items ED didn't release anything that I, or most of my multiplayer friends, are interested in. I hope 2017 shapes up to be the year ED had hoped 2016 would be and we'll get all of the above mentioned items and more! Get the F/A-18C, SOH, and the items originally stated would be in 2.0 released this year and I'll be a happy sim pilot.

Judging ED by their past record I wouldn't hold my breath for the vast majority of those updates making 2017 either. I have been wrong before but as you said we've had no updates on the status of the majority of those updates mentioned. So I'd bet my house on 2018 at the earliest
DCS Kickstarter Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable." Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."
