Hi,
I am coming at this in effect as complete beginner, ( I have run this many years ago but with all new PC and having been out of the loop for years, I am starting over by googling how to install Battle of Britain Wings of Victory II. To see how beginners would cope.

We need to be sure a beginner can see exactly what to do.

Sometimes those flying sims overlook that there should be a very visible beginners how to get started in this sim sticky as I forever find myself reading many threads and gradually piecing together whats what and the do's and donts, options available etc.

All I read of is how to install the latest patch.

Surely it all starts with trying to get the purchased program onto an operating system it wasn't originally designed for.
I dont want to screw up my PC.

Could someone talk me (and this will be of use to all beginners) through what I should be doing for a Windows 7 64 bit Pro operating system. Also tell us about OS's that wont run it, if any, and what to do for those that will. Links maybe to different OS threads.

I have an Nvidia GTX 970 video card which flies CoD all goodies at max. Saitek X45 HOTAS . Saitek pedals.

Both are calibrated and fly CoD.

I have managed to find my CD BoB WoV II Limited Edition , came with a DvD.
Is this still ok or must one purchase a newer version ?
Are there manufacturers patches to apply before applying BDG updates ?

Then How to get bang up to date with whats available, what to install, and in what order.

Links to stuff most welcome.

Maybe this thread could be a sticky for complete beginners.

Cheers

BOBC

Bets place for that sort of info is here: http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=17&sid=573337bf4ee0a13e650e6fd1abf3c70e

However, I agree a sticky with the sort of information you suggest would be useful here.

Hi,
Cant see an obvious beginners guide there either, unless I am not looking in depth enough.

You're right, there's no beginner's guide as such, but there is info on installs for different operating systems and FAQs.

BOBC,

You can also look here: http://bob2wov.com/category/documentation-tutorials/

Pay very close attention to the instructions, especially BDG.TXT editing. Setting up this sim is very "fiddly" and you can expect to spend hours tweaking the BDG file, setting up graphics, joysticks, etc.

You should be able to install and patch to the last update, v2.13 with v2.11 Multiskins. I made the mistake of moving to Windows 10 from Windows 7 64 bit, so am unable to play BOBII any longer. Windows 10 broke it.

I bought, installed, and patched this title to the latest version last night. I'm having a time taking off. I haven't had one single successful take off yet. This is on both stock and patched versions.

I seem to have all the axis assigned correctly. I'm using a TM Warthog HOTAS and Track IR3 Pro. Stick seems to have little to no response.

Any assistance from BoB II vets will be greatly appreciated.

If you try your first takeoff in a spit, you will usually
fail - that is the general experience. The first plane to
try is the Stuka, it is by far the easiest into the air.
A Hurri is the easiest fighter, and the spit and 109 are
the most tricky. This also applies to landing. After flying
the easy ones for a while, you get a better feel for how
the sim wants you to work, and the flighty fighters become
more tractable.

Thanks. I'll give the other planes a whirl this weekend. I've never had this much trouble getting a plane off the ground before.

Punkture,

Spitfires and 109s are difficult due to high torque and narrow undercarriage...this tutorial should help: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=bob...amp;FORM=VRDGAR
