I watched the 7 min IMAX trailer last night with my kids at the Rogue One showing. As someone who loves WW2 aviation and just aviation in general, the dogfight scenes with the Spit and 109 were very immersive in that format. Those planes looked and sounded amazing and the tension was visceral.

There's no doubt in my mind that this film will do very well internationally at the box office. The US box office not so much.

I'm really looking forward to this film. thumbsup

It'll be interesting how they handle the "why did Hitler stop the tanks" question...if it even comes up at all, given that the film seems to be told mostly from the POV of those trapped on that beach.

Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?

Agreed. This will not be like Tora, Tora, Tora or The Longest Day where the perspectives of both sides of the conflict will be presented.

No, the Russians are going to wear most of this while the Americans try to decide whether Nazism is bad or not.

Not before the Russians signed a friendly treaty with those nasty Nazis (to carve up Poland) and they didn't enter the war until 6 months before the US did until they were outright invaded and not because they saw the Nazis as a threat to civilization.

11+ million dead vs less than 1/2 million, I'm glad someone was around to soak up all those nasty bullets.

Not pushing a barrow here, but let's not forget that Wolfenstein: New Order starts looking almost realistic if Hitler isn't retarded enough to attack Russia. Have fun with that if you want, I'm not interested.

OK folks. This thread is one step from a lock or a trip to PWEC. Discuss the movie and/or the Affleck/Damen bromance by all means. But any move into politics or 'casting aspersions' and its gone.

Harry Styles is in it? Ugh... I certainly won't be seeing it in a theater as my guess is the theater will be full of giddy 14 year-old girls.

I really, really doubt that will be the case and especially more so in North America.

Looks like potentially the best flying scenes since Battle of Britain.

They got the world's only airworthy Blenheim in there, too. Only one, or possibly two now, qualified pilots on it.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I still dream of a modern day, non-CGI, movie about Mig Alley in the Korean War. Dare to dream...........

How many airworthy F-86's and MiG-15's are there? No CGI would mean doing what they did in "The Blue Max" with building full scale flyable replicas and using models for certain shots.

Yup. 95% of the movie audience won't even notice it.

Don't kid yourself. 99.99% of the movie audience won't know to notice or care.

Just got home from a free screening of Dunkirk. I was pleased. Its definitely more of a suspense/thriller movie than a traditional war movie. But those aerial combat scenes... OH MY GOD biggrin Dunkirk has the best air combat scenes I've seen in a movie, full stop. I'll definitely be seeing it in IMAX to get the full effect when its released publicly on Friday
