Tonys, Jacks, and Claudes oh my! biggrin

I was excited to hear the news of ODB's upcoming WW2 flight sim but why oh why couldn't it have been the PTO.

That's actually a Ki-27 Nate, not a A5M Claude, but yes, there are Claudes in there too!

I was pulling for PTO as well, however if I had to take a wild guess, the fact that WOFF already has the western front map created - that saves them at least some development time. Not to mention PTO would require a whole lot of 3D model ship building, which I'm sure would be no easy feat to accomplish.

I'm now downloading IL2-'46. GOG has it on sale for $2.39. I couldn't pass up that price.

33Lima, I've completed the download and I noticed that the version that I bought on GOG was 4.13 and I just saw that the CUP mod requires 4.12. Am I ok, or do I now need to somehow move back to 4.12?

Gosh, I don't know. I wasn't aware that online versions were shipping with these later Team Daidalos patches.

The discussion here seems to indicate there could be problems with CUP and 4.13, but that they may just affect some of the many sub-mods that are included as options with CUP...

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,46618.0.html

Might be best to stick with 4.13 for a while (it seems to have extra planes, maps and campaigns) and if you like it, either check out with the experts at SAS which mods are recommended for 4.13...or make a second install and try putting CUP into that, so you have a fall-back in case there are problems.

Banjoman,this is what you need:

Should be in the same spot where you downloaded the sim.

From out of my arse take the camshaft,
And assemble the engine again."

Fullofit, thanks but how do I then get back up to 4.12? This sim seems like a lot of work but the chance to fly an Oscar again is just to enticing.

Try this link to the IL-2 4.12.2m Mega Patch and then add SAS Modact 5.3 then follow Step By Step - Easy All In One Install Guide for CUP.

Or after the 4.12.2 patch simply go for the VP ModPack a much simpler modification process than CUP IMO.

That my friend, you should get from the official 1C Company forum: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=31667

Hiya Adger! Hi all! My apologies for my absence - RL is, as always, super busy.

I wanted to chime in and also highly recommend the VPModPack. If your interest is rooted in WWII only and you'd like a set of mods that make IL-2 look current, and chock full of good campaigns, and run at a steady 60fps no matter what, this is the way to go.

I'll be flying it until OBD gifts us their amazing new WWII sim! In the meantime, VPModpack is still being worked on - he just posted a total overhaul of the Crimea a few days ago. And adding on to it is a snap, just download the latest patch when he posts it, drag the folders to your IL-2 install, and you're good to go. CUP is just too complicated for my tastes.

Hope this helps! Again, sorry for the delay. Hope everyone has a very happy Holiday Season!

Cheers!

I know this is a thread mainly about other sims regarding the timeframe of WW1 and WW2.
Anyhow, if any of you is enjoying serious campaign action in either single or multiplayer environment Falcon BMS 4.33 would be worth to look at, if you like to give jet aircraft a go.
The visuals are great and up to date, the AI deadly but believable, the flight models high fidelity, especially when flying the F16.
What really stands out though is the campaign engine. The engine simulates a real war, the player has influence how this progresses, both by setting objectives and by his own mission outcomes. Ground and air vehicles are simulated with their assigned tasks and it feels like being part of the conflict, something for we all do love WOFF so much...

Just in case you're interested in the Battle of Stalingrad...Moscow...Kuban series. I have two Christmas gift key threads running over on the il2stormovik.com forums. I'm giving away 4 early access BoK keys (meaning BoK is in the pipeline NOT released yet) and 4 Ju-52 keys. The Ju-52 is dropping soon. Head on over and register if you'd like to enter either or both random drawings.

Thanks everybody for the help. I was able to get CUP all installed this past weekend and today I'm finally flying. I can't believe how pretty this sim is with CUP and it sure brings back good memories of my Oscar flying days. Here are a few screenshots of my Japanese pilot who died really quickly, but it was sure fun.

I wonder where he went?

Its a shame that IL2 never really tried to make a good WW1 sim. For MMP and mission writing that would of been the cats meow.
THey do have a WW1 mod but needs a lot more work

make mistakes and learn from them
