Hi Bletchley,

Thank you for finishing this wonderful set of mission types! salute

And I've got a question for you (or anyone else who might know)...

I'm trying to create a mission type record to produce a fighter attack on an enemy factory (target type: towns).

This is the closet I've come to success:

28
Railyard Attack
Attack Enemy Factory
NULL
NULL
Today we are attacking the designated enemy factory - we must disrupt the production of war materials as much as possible.
Enemy
strike
towns
none
none
none
1
GroundAttack
EOR

This record produced a mission with A Flight directly assisting B Flight. I ran the full mission on autopilot and my flight (B Flight) simply turned around and went home after reaching the enemy factory. They weren't running (Going Home), they simply remained "In Transit" during the entire body of the mission (other than taking off and landing).

But A Flight picked up ground targets in their Activity Label (same as attacking an airfield or railyard) and dropped down and strafed the factory. I turned off autopilot and dropped down to watch for a few minutes, and the buildings showed damage, caught on fire, and collapsed and did all the things that happen on airfield and railyard targets. I made a couple of strafing passes, but my guys in B Flight had no interest in helping and didn't pick up any targets like they automatically do in an airfield or railyard attack. And when I turned autopilot back on my plane immediately turned and headed back home "In Transit."

So I know the AI can pick up a factory from a mission record and attack legitimate targets, but I can't figure out how to get my B Flight to automatically attack it without having to use that radar thingy and cycle through targets and all that.

I know factories are not a historically correct target, but have you found a way to do this? In particular, I wonder about other Line 2 options. I think Line 2 consists of predetermined text values, so I've only been trying the ones I know from your mission type set, but so far no joy for B Flight.

Any help would be appreciated. Or maybe you know for sure it can't be done. Was planning to try the same for some other target types like "troops" and "frontsectors" (had a similar near success with frontsectors when A Flight directly assisting B Flight dropped down and staffed units on the front lines while B Flight ignored the mission).

Thanks!

Buck

Also, do you know if the "certain squads/countries can only do certain things" rule is turned off for 3rd Party Missions when they are enabled (ie: does enabling 3rd Party Missions automatically override the "Historical/non-Historical" missions button in Workshop, or should it always be set to "non-Historical" in concert with enabling 3rd Party Missions?)...maybe some help with this question, Pol?

In other words, if I can get an R.E.8 or Camel to do something in 1916 and 1918, does that guarantee I can get an Albatros or DFW to do the same thing in 1917, or am I running up against a squads/countries/years filter further down the line inside WOFF? If there is a filter inside WOFF, is there a text file I can edit to add allowed activities/targets to the filter?

Just trying to pick your brain a little bit smile

Thanks!

Buck

I haven't tried, but you can try these options....

Bombing Behind Enemy Front Lines
Attack Enemy Factory
"""turn""" <---- Maybe try different combos like NULL / Loiter or Startloop / Endloop, etc...
"""turn"""
Today we are attacking the designated enemy factory - we must disrupt the production of war materials as much as possible.
Enemy
strike
towns
none
none
none
1
Bombing
EOR

In my testing, it's better to have historical missions not active when using mission mods to get better randomization of missions that are inside the file. Otherwise you are limiting the selection of missions according to the WOFF manager which may not include some missions inside the file.

Thanks, OldHat, I'll give those parms a try thumbsup

Just thought I would try to tap the collective wisdom here rather than stumble around in the dark.

Makes sense regarding turning historical missions off when 3rd Party Missions are enabled (its what I've been doing) but wanted to get some feedback from others.

What I'm trying to do is to build fighter and bomber mission type files that do all things against all potential targets on the map (within the fighter or bomber category). For instance, if I'm in an E.III squad, I'll get mostly historically correct fighter missions for that country and year, but also salted with non-historical missions such as a raid on a factory, or a deep patrol behind enemy lines. I'm about 80% done but these ground attack missions against troops, frontsectors, and towns have me stumped (if they can be done at all). Of the progress I've made, getting the Germans to do all this stuff was the hardest and I think its because I'm up against some kind of filter in WOFF manager that says "no you won't" even though I'm running them as 3rd Party Missions with Historical missions turned off in Workshop.

Thanks!

Hello Bucksnort,

It is all a process of trial and error....

Make sure that you are not flying as Flight Leader. B flight will not attack any ground targets unless you tell them to, if you are Flight Leader.

Yes, turn off Historical missions. If Historical Missions is ON only some squadrons will be tagged for GroundAttack.

It may be that with Railyard Attack as the mission type, they will only attack if Railyard is the target...?

You can choose Factory as a target type, if you want to attack factories...

I am sure we would all be interested in any progress that you make with this smile

B.

Thanks for the info, Bletchley!

Just didn't want to spend time trying to discover what may have already been discovered by somebody else smile

So will continue to fiddle around with this and will post any progress I make.

Cheers! salute

Hello dutch,

Yes, it is. I have been using it with WOFF fully patched to latest version, with all add-on packs, and no problems so far. There will be a new version soon, with some very minor changes - mostly a change to the escort missions, to remove the double-run across the Front to the target that sometimes occurs when the target is close to the Front. Still testing it smile

B.

@Blechley, Thanks for the reply, I'm always waiting for a JSGME at the official the WoFF website and for some strange reason this mod has been overlooked by me.
Download is starting now!!!

Hi, just bought WOFF UE, and I wonder if this mod is compatible with this version?

Thanks

I'm still using it and it seems to work just fine.
