Helicopters are proliferating among the world’s armies. This growing
inventory includes armed helicopters equipped with weapons systems
suitable for engaging other helicopters in aerial combat. In a major regional
conflict, armed helicopters might pose a threat that neither the
U.S. Air Force nor U.S. Army is prepared to counter.
