After much wailing and gnashing of teeth I managed to perform a clean install of WOFF UE and get it my controllers working properly. (Yay...)

I had a campaign that said mission frequency was low (winter 1917 RFC-1 Sqdn) but I was tasked to fly for what seemed like everyday. I deleted the pilot because I was tired of flying around in IMC for an hour.

I have been away from WOFF for a long time, isn't or wasn't there the capability to advance a campaign a few days and to request leave? I couldn't find a reference searching the forums for time advance or calendar advance?

In the Campaign Screen (before going to the briefing room) there is a "T" in a box, just above where it says Briefing Room, click that. You will get a time advance box that gives you the choice of 1 day, 1 week or 1 month.

Hi Busdriver, welcome back.

Yes under workshop more settings there is a campaign date advance option - set it to manual/auto to have the ability in campaigns to manually advance the date. WEhen on you will see on icon with a big T in it.

As for leave request - it only pops up from time to time - and if requested is sometimes rejected.

Those files have long since been encrypted so editing is no longer possible IMHO.

Thanks Robert,

Did they get encrypted in WOFF 3? I skipped that iteration.

Not sure when, but they were either encrypted as a precursor to WOFF3 or during one of the updates.

Copy that, the ability was still there in WOFF 2. ISTR that DukeIronHand and I were discussing our proclivity to edit and WM suggesting he might encrypt. [sigh...]

Can't this sequence still be used? alt+tab out of claim form, write in notepad(or MSword), then cut & paste into the description field.

OldHat you can still do that and busdriver the claims and log files are not encrypted. You can use Notepad++ to edit them.

I have no problem with the claim narrative. And I agree with you, that's one solution.

What I was editing out (post mission) was the mission log's mundane boilerplate text, and replacing it with (at least to me) cogent commentary. As an example, I might replace "Gentlemen, B Flight was sent to patrol enemy lines in [German sector reference] with 7 aircraft, 5 returned to base etc," with...

Again something in my own voice that allows me to recall the mission, "Clear day, morning sortie. Number 4 in a flight of 7 on Offense Patrol near Vimy. Number 3 dropped out enroute due to mechanical issue. Witnessed Rodney Ruffledbottom's kill of green & brown EA over trenches. Claimed 1 EA with black & white upper wing W of FL. EA crashed in flames NE of [Obs Balloon, city, or aerodrome]. Landed in a pasture due to fuel leak."

In cases where I had clearly killed a bandit and it crashed in the middle of a friendly aerodrome, yet had my claim denied, I would edit the next mission narrative with something like "Claim for EA that crashed on Bugtussle aerodrome yesterday credited to AA troops."

I recognize most players don't aspire to my level of narrative. I enjoyed filling in the gaps in the pilot's story. Oh sure I can still do it outside of the game, but the mission log was so convenient. WM's decision is what it is...[shrug]

.

I did precisely the same thing as you busdriver and was quite disappointed when WOFF took away that ability. As you say, it is what it is now, but I still don't know that I fully understand the decision to deprive us of the option to edit as we pleased in our own copy of the sim.

Hello guys, you can still edit the Pilot's log and claim files by using something like NotePad++. I just did exactly that, you can't however edit the dossier file and I think that is the file you guys are thinking about.

Back in WOFF 2 I think the text files were named "Pilot1, Pilot2, etc." You could back them up, Robert Wiggins made a utility for that.

Absent the ability to edit files to reflect personal narratives, perhaps the Devs could include something optional like the Claim form. When you think about it, the Devs' are outstanding at manipulating code, wordsmithing...not so much.

Hello guys, as Banjoman repeatedly pointed here, you can freely modify your mission logs and reports, because Pilot1, Pilot2,... etc. log files and claim files are not encrypted. These files are located in WOFF/OBDWW1 Over Flanders Fields/campaigns/CampaignData/Pilots/... folder.

Much obliged! It had been over a year since I'd played WOFF, I had been unable to find them (or more correctly couldn't remember where they were located). My sincere thanks for specifying the path, that was the missing piece of the puzzle.

Cheers salute

[edit to add] Banjoman, thanks for your comments of assistance, I just couldn't find what you were describing. I was looking in WOFF/Logs.
