Hey all,

im new to the flying club.
Im simulating on my computer since many years, but until some month ago i was not aware there is such a fantastic flight sim in the WW1 Scenario. I love such masterpieces with a focus on singleplayer experience (i love dynamic campaigns) and immersion is for me more important than simulating the last screw in a plane. I think both is given with WOFF.

So yesterday i bought WOFF UE, installed and started for the first time.
Not flown a minute so far, first i want to read all documentations available.
Im flying with a Warthog HOTAS, TrackIR and MFG Crosswind Pedals.

So im really looking forward to some discussions, screenshot exchanges and other topics!

Regards,
Jan (a german guy in switzerland)

Welcome Palagan, you will find everyone here very helpful. The WOFF campaign is second to none As Lou seems to be busy, the new man buys the drinks!

Palajan, welcome to the meat grinder! If you are into full immersion, and it sounds like you are, you will want to locate the western front maps created by RAF_Louvert and download them. Typically we display those maps on a second monitor and plot our missions on them and use them for flight course reference during campaigns. TThose maps are far superior to the in sim maps. They used to be available on the "User Mods" section of the official WOFF site but are no longer hosted there. If someone would post a link to them that would be great. If not, I can upload them to my DropBox and post a link here so you can get them.

Since you have been identified as the new guy who is buying virtual rounds, I'll have a Guiness thank you!

Cheers

.

Welcome to the WOFF virtual skies Palajan. As has been properly pointed out, new lads buy the drinks, and a pinta' Guinness will suit me fine.

To my aforementioned navigation maps, here is the link to that download if you would like to give them a go:

Glad to have you aboard!

Welcome, Palajan! Great to see new pilots joining up!

...and if I were starting over (building on what Mr. Wiggins and Lou have suggested) I would have flown RiR from the start.... 2nd screen maps, no flying aids, no zoom, etc.... but maybe that's pushing it a bit smile

Thanks for the beer and enjoy WOFF, however you decide to fly!

Oh, I think these Flying-Aids come in pretty handy - especially in the Beginning. They helped me a lot to get a "Feel" for those Planes. The "Over-Speed"-Message for example...
It took me about 2 Years or so 'till I had reached the Point, where I felt confident enough to switch off everything...

Unfortunately, no good start for me with WOFF.
Starting a campaign, flying the first training mission as an observer.
Pilot is landing.

Then i press CTRL-Q, then Enter. Screen becomes black, background music is playing...and then nothing happens anymore. Waited for nearly 15 mins.
I can not tab out to windows, i can not start the task manager, nothing. Only pushing the reset button helps.
I have no issue like this with any of my hundreds of other games.

Tried the same with a Quick Mission...i can fly, but i can not end a mission. Same black screen with background music running.

Any ideas?

And you shouldn't be having it with this game either.
Unfortunately diagnosis over text in a forum is most difficult.
Perhaps someone who is had a similar issue(?) can jump in here with some advice for you.
Good luck.

Welcome Palajan. Great choice you've just made. As too your problem head on to the Technical Issues section and look for this thread: Black Screen Problem
Hope there is an answer in there for you.

Man, you couldn't have managed to discover this sim at a better time, what with the recent release of the UE! Welcome aboard! salute

Pelajan, this fixed my problem with this issue. Note: Running Windows 10 and had to set it to Windows 7 compatibility instead of Windows 8 as it says in the "Black Screen Problem" thread. This was running WOFF 3 but upgraded to WOFF UE with no other problems.
