Hey gang,

Got me a brand new system

i76850 overclocked @3.6.
16GB RAM
GeForce GTX 1080
500GB SSD
No mods BTW and AV off for WOFF (which helps but wasn't necessary with my old system...go figure)

but find that I still get many of the old WOFF issues (triangles, cloud popping, micro-stutters, etc). In fact, the effects are somewhat worse than my old system with 3.2GHz and a GTX 780.

I suspect that this is due to the settings tweaking that I had gotten from the forum. My old system was tuned to play WOFF well, my current system is set to defaults.

I am unable to find it, but at one time someone had posted screenshots of his NVidia Inspector settings with all that LOD clamp stuff that I just don't understand very well. Would someone please post it again?

Thanks guys!

Deacon

Thanks enpower!

I found some other settings as well searching for nvidia inspector which narrowed down the results considerably.

Will, see if any of this helps my stutters any.

Hope your new settings help, Deacon.

Your CPU may be holding you back a little running at its base clock of 3.6ghz. WOFF as you likely know, runs best at higher clock speeds and doesn't care about multiple cores. The i7-6850 (K or X?), while not the greatest overclocker out here, should still get to 4.2 or higher with some water cooling if you're so inclined. I've a similar rig to yours but with a different CPU and vastly inferior video card. I'm running maxed settings stutter-free 75fps with an i5-6600k at 4.6ghz, same 16gb ram, and a vastly inferior Video Card - GTX 760 to your killer 1080 - so it can be done.

Check out this link:

and here's one with more specific how-to steps for Asus bios:

Good luck!

Thanks again epower! This is actually an overclocked system from Digital Storm. I may have gotten the CPU speed incorrect...it was from the WIN10 My Computer page. My understanding is that the system was overclocked as much as the DS guys managed to safely. So, I don't want to mess with that too much.

Installing NI actually had a massive improvement in my performance. I was thinking of throwing up a post with my settings (as the options have changed since that last post) just because of the dramatic improvement.

Thanks again...you've really helped a lot!

Glad to hear things are better. Do please post your Inspector settings. I'm sure they would prove useful to others who use the program and might act as a reference point for future bench marking escapades. I've used Nvidia Inspector in the past but have not yet enabled it on my current build.

The info on your My Computer page is likely the base clock speed. Mine shows 3.6ghz in Win 7 and also when I run DxDiag. It might be useful to know what overclock speed you're actually running. If you don't want to root around in bios you can download CPU-Z, which provides all manner of fun and useful info. You can download it here:
