Some highlights:

* 1.5.5 moves to stable with a number of fixes - there may be some Mirage/Gazelle things missing from the changelog
* 2.5 beta is pushed back for reasons explained in the post - mainly a shift of priorities to complete Nevada and Normandy first
* Hornet early access is pushed back for reasons explained in the post - mainly additional systems complexity as more information is discovered

As Belsimtek seem to be doing the best job......give them 2.5 to finish off popcorn

I'm not sure delays to 2.5 and the Hornet could be considered a 'highlight' either.

SERIOUSLY!!

It seems some people around here don't even know what DAY it is!
Everybody seems to have forgotten what November 11th truly means.

There are huge problems going on in the world right now and some people would rather spend all their time and effort complaining about how they misspent $100! While you're complaining about what somebody did to your shrub other entities are stealing your whole Forest!

People need to get some perspective...

Normandy map and WW2 AI units will finally transform DCS into a true WW2 study sim. That's a real highlight and very positive for me. Retrospectively three years since the kickstarter aren't too bad either, considering it was a Luthier project and EDs very long to do list.

hmmm November 11th , you mean Remembrance Day ?

Not sure what that has to do with DCS World 2.5 being delayed , but I will bite

WW2 dogfights where about deliver the proper hit to specific airframe with the proper ammo...a mile away from current gaming overall hitpoints system.
I would consider CLOD a much more realistic ww2 than dcs even with its limited flight model

A new damage system for WW2 planes (and presumably everything else in due time) is in development and will be released together with the Spitfire or some time thereafter.

Link to ED forums were the new DM is discussed: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=170625

WWII simulation requires specific AI and large group of group of group formation structure. You can get away with the poor energy management of AI in the jet age kind of but in WWII you AI better not be sitting on the AOA limit with steam pouring out of the radiators.

I wouldn't count on revised DM being released with Spit next month, they want to update the remaining warbirds DMs too and release all four together for obvious reasons. Still, the fact that ex-CloD guy was hired to work on these is good enough for me, 'cause the current stoneage DM is a bit of a showstopper from combat point of view.

Like I said, "if stuff is delayed a few years, what's a few months more?" seems to be the prevailing logic there.

Please enlighten us how to view "we told you it's coming out in 2016, but it's not anymore" as a positive. I'm listening.

They're working on 2.5, but suddenly Nevada and Normandy gets priority? Please tell me how to view that as a positive?

Sure, it's Remembrance day. But what does that have to do in a flight simulator forum discussion? Do you think we're spitting on the graves of the dead by talking about this topic in a negative way?

Just because someone else's problems are bigger than ours does not make our problems go away. Again, a flight simulator forum is not the place to complain about "other entities stealing your whole forest". You need to know where you're posting and what topic is being discussed.

Why wouldn't it be? Or at worst, it's neutral. Some of us are indeed waiting for those very improvements to Nevada that will allow us to run even more authentic Red Flag scenarios/campaigns.

As for your first sentence, you're demonstrating negativity right now.

So why are you complaining about the negativity that arises from a negative message?

The message isn't negative, you are. Like seriously, if you walked anywhere near an MRI machine, you'd become stuck to it biggrin

I know you called it, everyone called it - in case you haven't noticed, it's just a flat out tradition with ED for things to be pushed back. You have literally done zero, zilch, zip, squat and nada out of the ordinary - you've been beating a dead horse, and that's what's negative - you just can't stop yourself. You're going to get tennis elbow biggrin At least make some BBQ instead.

Let's recap, shall we?

- There are a whole bunch of fixes in 1.5.5, and a lot of tweaks. There are some new features as well.
- You asked (or at least some people asked) that ED communicate when things get pushed back and/or priorities change. Well, they just did, officially.
- Work is proceeding on Nevada and Normandy, which is something a lot of people are looking forward to.
- The hornet's being worked on, and as I recall Wags pretty much said 'more news around this time'. This is the news, it's taking longer than they expected but work is proceeding.

For a genuine non-complaining question:

If NTTR and Normandy are dependent on 2.5, why prioritize them ahead of it when we won't be able to see them? Or is the idea that until they are finished there is little reason to release 2.5?

Exactly.......why would the priority of a dependency now be the focus?....ah - the spit and Normandy generate funds whereas 2.5 doesn't. So even though a major bug could still be identified in the core engine they're going to finish off a couple of maps first which could easily require rework.

Perfect logic.

NTTR and Normandy arent Dependent on 2.5

2.0 Can handle Multiple Terrains, 1.5 Cannot

2.5 Brings A bunch of stuff Free Caucas, and most noticeable will be P.B.R and Adjustments to Shaders/Lighting.
