Greetings.

Is there a file i can edit the default zoom value? As in when hitting the reset view button in cockpit, need it wider.

Campaign, i let the game put me in a unit and i ended up way behind enemy lines, near London actually, will i be moved as i progres or should i try to transfer closer?

And........... how on earth do you guys stay alive in this game :P
I havent been into combatsims very long, just a month or so playing IL2, not doing so bad there but this game, dang its hard, hehe.

Sorry for bad spelling, getting old and alzimers light is kicking in smile

TrackIR helps a lot or facetracknoir if you have low funds.

Press [ when you get into the pit.

Otherwise you have to edit xdp files, think it's covered elsewhere. search for it.

When creating a new pilot you can select what you want by using the "manual squad deployment" button (lower right) instead of having the game select something for you.

It will show you where you will be stationed depending on which unit and time period you select. If you want, by changing the time periods you can see which planes you'll get and where you'll move to as you progress through the months (if you can survive, that is). We've all died many, many times.

Welcome to WOFF Kris018!

I don't think you want to get involved in editing /xdp files just yet wink JJJ did a mod for setting the default viewpoint which edits those files for you. Check it out here...

http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4286511/Pilot_viewpoint_mod#Post4286511

Before installing it, or any other mods for that matter, browse the mod section and find out more about the JSG mod installer. I would get that set up on your system first and then start looking at adding mods.

Lots to learn here. It's a brutally tough sim to master but that's what makes it great! As Povolski said, you really need a Track IR. Maybe you already have one?

Cheers

H

Welcome Kris, it is great to see new guys flying into the Woff game.

My advice is always avoid a fighting campaign and start in a low activity front like flying an MS parasol in Alsace Belfort airfield. Enjoy flying true mountains and sometimes you will encounter Willy Rosenthal in an Aviatik B1 that can easily shot down BTW. At this way you not only enjoy the view on the landscape but also learn to fly, without being shot out every mission.
What you will learn here can be used later when the surronding will become more dangerus at a later stage of the war.

No don't use that mod, it's made before WOFF UE. If it's updated at some point yes.

No danger, Pol, this mod is safe to use regardless of WOFF version. Just do not forget to run BDPStamp.exe application after applying mod (located in OBDSoftware/WOFF/Toolbox folder).

Thanks JJJ65. It might be safe to use but doesn't include new craft or DM changes and fixes though.

This is a bunch of VERY helpfull folks ( as yoy are finding out ).

I would advise LOTS of QC time to learn how to adjust to all of the situations. Start one on one ( they being a rookie ) and progress up to you alone up against several Acs's.

If you do not mind, what is your age.

I hit 80 next April.

Yes, you can place it anywhere. This applicaion modifies pilot view angle - one point (click) is approximately 6 degrees of FOV. It opens every aircraft file, locate pilot viewpoint value and modifies it per your selection (either zoom in or zoom out). Try to modify your viewpoint by 2 or 3 points, then click "Apply mod" and "Exit" button. Runn BDPStamp.exe torefresh bdp files, then start WOFF and compare result with default setting. If you are not satisfied, you can at any time change viewpoint angle to WOFF stock setting by clicking "Restore" button.

This mod does not replace any xdp file, it just looks for value of "Pilot view" inside of every xdp file and modifies it per user wish.

A Welcome from me, too, Kris wave
As for the Difficulty, WOFF pretty much hits the Real Thing, as we all found out over Time, playing Contests and DiD (or RiR lately) Campaigns in this Forum, here. We even had one Contest, where the average Survival-Time of all Participants almost exactly matched that of real WW1-Pilots (somewhere around 17 hours in the Air, I think)
It might be a good Idea to start your first Campaigns in comparably fast Planes, to make sure you can flee from Danger as soon as Things get out of Control (which they usually do exitstageleft )

Welcome to WOFF Kris. You will find a most helpful bunch here. For what it is worth,

Sopwith Pups are easy and forgiving aircraft. I would try flying it first. Someone else can vouch for German aircraft. I mostly fly on the British side.

Do not dive into every dogfight that comes your way. If the odds are not with you, run!

Spend some time in Quick Combat one on one until you come out on top all of the time. Then up the odds against you and try that. But noooooo, you want to get right into a campaign and become a top ace! That's fine too as the campaign in the heart and soul of WOFF.

Good Luck!

Nice shot Kris..great sim isnt it?
Im also 44 i think we are the young pups on this fantastic forum biggrin your English is fine pal.

Ther,es cheaper alternatives to TrackIR pal,(Facetracknoir) its not as good but it does the job.

If you do get serious about WOFF then trackir is imo as essential as a flightstick.

Well done so far in your 5 missions all the best and Welcome to the Forum...have fun good luck thumbsup
