...this time, it's Starship Troopers: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/starship-troopers-reboot-works-943882Written by the authors of the upcoming Baywatch movie (why, another franchise reboot). Double yay! They claim that they are absolutely going to stick to Heinlein's novel, and not Verhoeven's film, which could at least be a (dim) ray of (faint) hope. That didn't work well for Judge Dread, though, nor for Total Recall.

LOL
Honestly, this is so absurd it should qualify to be an article on the Onion.
Needless to say I'll be passing.
Maybe the studio should get Tyler Perry to direct? It will give the film a distinctive urban flavor.

I wonder whether they actually read the novel yet. I've not read it either so I can't judge them. Then again, David Lynch did read Dune before his film was made and it still came out being quite different so even the writers/directors reading the source material is no guarantee.

Makes you feel old when movies you saw as teen already get rebooted... Yup. It's crazy for me to think that 1997 was fricking 19 years ago.

Let's just say Heinlein's book does not really fit in all that snugly with the currently dominant Hollywood worldview. There was a reason why Verhoeven gave the story that satirical twist.

And in very typical Hollywood industry fashion, her major film roles dried up after she passed age 35 or so.
