Bought Mad Max during the last steam sale, I would of preferred if they'd used the more interesting setting of the original (1979) Mad Max instead of the cartoony full apocalypse 2015 version but it's still a very fun game and looks terrific too.

I have to admit driving is fun in this, and looks and performs very nicely (not that there is that much to render in a desert though...)

But I stopped playing halfway through it due to the repetitive nature of the missions and the button smashing fight mechanics.

Not a bad game by any means.

I have the same issue with the Batman Arkham series and the Shadow of Mordor game, and these are also hugely popular franchises.

I also refunded Mafia III on the same basis.

So I recognize these are popular gaming mechanics.

it's just not my play style.

To be fair between the original Mad Max and Road Warrior the world went from "completely falling apart" to "fell apart a while ago" so the setting is fairly accurate to the latter movies wink

Yeah, it is repetitive, I just muck around in short bursts, blow some stuff up.

I do see a little lost potential though, fuel and water are supposed to be precious resources instead they just keep throwing them at you.
Scrap was also a pointless money sink, you get so much and the collectibles serve no real purpose beyond being collectible. Would've been nice to have different items hidden around. Scavenge materials and resources from your enemies to build and customise your car, not just unlock upgrades.

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
It's pretty good, a bit "Just Cause" style for my liking, but that's not a bad thing.

I enjoyed it and finished it. I agree about it being repetitive, but my main problem was that you couldn't really have a stealth approach. No crouch, no take down options (that I remember at least) and the fighting really was pretty simple. Still, I'll revisit it one day. The story does pick up later and gets pretty good.

Yeah, and I'm glad they didn't try to pull a 'happy' ending

I bought it on sale, played for about an hour and haven't touched it since.

Yeah, I think I actually spent more time taking pictures than actually playing though. (Like any game that includes a photo mode)

I've got 74 hours in the game so far and I'm still going. Its interesting...I seem to play games in such a way that I often put many hours into a game before I realize that there were things that I didn't know about that I should have done earlier on. I just recently did that mission where you go to a subway tunnel near the bridge to push out a subway car for its metal. I saw this little blue dot icon on the map way at the edge and wondered what it was. I confess I've been a bit confused this whole time at how the game marks the map for mission specific objectives. Over 70 hours in and I just now got the subway car for what I think is supposed to be a chrome supply.(I'm not sure)

I've just been enjoying it and I mostly use "The Jack" car body but its still only rusty looking and painted black. I guess I need to do more missions involving car parts. I only recently also passed through the "Jaw." I also remember being in a lot of dust storms and then out of the blue I got caught in something like an electrical storm. I had never seen that in many, many hours of play and I was blown away by it with all the crazy lightning and getting caught on fire. Great game. Seems strange that Avalanche could produce this and then turn around and come out with a mediocre Just Cause 3.(At least going by some reviews I've seen)
