What's up with their website? It never reply's back via a confirmation email, so it's catch 22 trying to register, not possible to purchase, and I ain't going the steam route.

Guess they don't want to sell it, not the first time I've tried either. Last sale, and the one before that.

Yea, saw the sale and almost bought it but no dynamic campaign mode means a no-buy from me. Il-2 Sturmovik has dynamic campaign mode so why did they drop that feature in the newer versions? I have the disaster that was Clod and that is the last I have bought from them.

They are planning on bringing an ROF-style one into it. Also, Pat Wilson has a beta campaign generator available right now.

I would check your spam folder. Or...like the problem I had with DCS...my ISP just straight up blocked e-mails
from there altogether. I guess the ".ru" originating from Russia raises flags. Not 100% sure why though.

iirc il2 '46 campaigns are also static (given it is at least still a campaign mode tho) DCG adds some dynamics into it but is still less than full blown DC engines.

The original Il-2 had static campaigns, Forgotten Battles introduced a DC with continued support for scripted campaigns. Lowengrin's DCG gave you "more" DC with greater control and less apparent repetition along with other bumps.

However, there are largely considered to be two types of campaigns, each with their flaws:
Scripted (including branching, as those are just scripted ones where you may not see them all) which offer great experiences the first time you fly them, but get old after repeated runs. Also, as they are presumed "winnable" you wind up flying them lots of times to beat them...especially if the campaign won't let you progress till you do.

Dynamic which means they are generated based on starting conditions and the results of the previous mission. Not all will you be able to win necessarily, allowing back and forth progress that is random. Some are really good, some are pretty simple and get repetitive fast. One of the worst I ever flew was EAW's 109 campaign. It was just bomber intercept after bomber intercept with little change. It was one step above simply picking a bomber intercept single mission and playing it a dozen times in a row. Oddly, EAW had some great DC's for other planes, like the BOB 110 special missions one where you attacked radar sites and did other things.
Longbow 2 had a hybrid DC with scripted missions that would appear at random times that fit in with campaign progress. It was a great idea I never saw again.

i thought the IL2 scripted/story campaign system was rather good -- not for myself i'm Falcon4 or at least Strike Fighters DC all the way -- but obviously many ppl like the story ones and i think indeed they ain't bad at all.

but like any offline content it needs the support of good AI and well tuned database which.. some of the current titles lack.

Without good AI all you have is an online title which turns off many people for a variety of reasons.

BTW, the Harrier sim 'Combat Air Patrol 2' that is in EA on Steam will have a DC.
