I am in the market for a new monitor and I've just started looking into the options. Before I go headlong into it, I feel I should tap the brains on this forum. I am looking for a good quality 29" or larger widescreen (NOT Ultrawide) monitor. Considering gaming monitors but a high quality business monitor is adequate. Can be 1080p or 4K. Can anyone make any recommendations? Should I look at television monitors as well? Thanks in advance.

My current monitor is my current favorite. Got one for my wife too. 32", 2K (1440p), legitimate 178 degree view angle, legitimate 3000:1 native contrast (vs 1000:1 or less for most monitors), 100 color gamut (vs less for most, some up to 120+), 60hz refresh. $400 at Amazon and Newegg. The 3000:1 native contrast is a very big deal to me -- when using a monitor in the dark. If one always has the lights on in the room, it may be less important. 60hz refresh works fine for me in games. However, some folks feel they need 120hz these days. No on-screen-visible downsides to this monitor that I can see with my eyes. However, I'm me SAMSUNG S32D850T Black 32" 5ms WQHD Dual HDMI LCD / LED Monitor 300 cd/m2 DCR Mega Infinity (3000:1), Height Adjustable, VESA Mountable, Multi-Screen, Built-in USB 3.0 Hub Samsung S32D850T at Amazon Samsung S32D850T at Newegg -- More Descriptive Product Page Just something to consider. I'm sure there are other great monitors out there. Most likely some better -- depending on the intended use. By the way, for 27" and up, 1080p is not enough resolution -- looks pixelated at desktop distances. From my experience, don't recommend TV monitor at all (I do have two in operation as monitors that get little use).

Allen, Thanks alot! That definitely looks like a good candidate for what I'm looking for.
Cheers.

By the way, I was playing with SAMSUNG S32D850T settings today. It reminded me of the special game settings, so I'm mentioning them.
Game Mode and Response Time Mode settings -- each gives three choices . I have Game Mode set to "default" and Response Time set to "Faster".
Those are two more settings of very many settings that may help out in some situation.
