A lot of people tell me that I look younger than my age which is 44 but I think that's mostly due to the fact that I have no facial hair and I have no gray/white hair (yet). I don't smoke and I'm a very light social drinker but I am a bit overweight. I'd like to lose about 25 lbs.

10 months ago,no.I now eat healthier and exercise daily.I haven't smoked since the 80's and am a very occasional drinker.
At 56 I may have left it too late but I certainly feel a whole lot better than I used to.

I'm 5'10", around 100kg. BMI of 31 or 32. I got a big belly, but not a beer belly. Nevertheless, I'm considered obese. I don't smoke, I drink VERY occasionally, but I've had to admit lately that I'm a comfort eater. I also prefer to exercise my mind more than my body I'd need to lose 25kg to be considered "healthy" and up until now, I've always said to myself that I can lose that if I want to. Before I was growing sideways, I could always eat anything and my metabolism would take care of it. In the back of my head, I just need to kick that back into gear and I'll be in shape. However, I was really very thin before (considering my height) that I'm enjoying being "big" for a while. Being asian with very little facial or body hair, thick hair on my head, people keep thinking I'm much younger than I really am.

But remember what you will get away with in your twentys you mite get away with in your thirty's but you sure as hell wont in your forty's. LoL Amen. When I got married I was 6' 170 lbs or so. 30's, 200. Late 30's everything changed and I'm still struggling at 45. I was always naturally thin and didn't have to worry about it. Eat anything. At this point, I really don't care about being thin, I never really liked it anyway. I need to lose 40 though. I traded smoking for weight years ago (earlier 30's) which was the right thing to do. I'm better off with the weight, no doctor argues that. I eat right, not much for snacking, 1 soft drink every 2-3 days (I've got a sweet tea weakness though). I drink when I want, but these days that's one large Southern Comfort and coke a month or so. Maybe some wine with the wife. I just need to get moving again. Normally I go fishing and kayaking at every opportunity, but this year I've had an injured hip and now forearm screwing with me keeping me in. I eventually did PT for the hip, looks like I'll need it for the arm. It shows that I haven't gotten out much, so I'm going to start walking with my dog some. We'll get each other to go out I figure.

I've always been assumed to be younger than I am, even by my peers. My final year of college I was working at a movie theater with a bunch of high schoolers and I mentioned I was a senior...they thought I meant HS too. I could definitely lose some weight. I don't eat much and I've never smoked or drank, but my metabolism slowed down from my mid-20s and the weight came on. The Jedi Master

Yes, I do try.
No smoking, drinking, eating and diet is in good shape. Not over weight.
I could do more with exercise. This was on my mind last week. Part of the issue is simply getting it integrated into my daily routine. I'll need to push some things around on my schedule to make permanent room for exercise.

At some point the metabolism slows down and the food starts to catch up. It doesn't help that I have tachycardia and as a result any exercise is far more exhausting and less beneficial than it should be. The Jedi Master

Not saying I am against being healthy, just saying that it is not a guarantee for anything. When it comes to life, there are no guarantees.

Never thought I'd get married. Never thought I'd turn 30. Never thought I'd have kids. Never thought I'd turn 40. Mentally I feel about like the same kid that didn't expect 21, or at least 30.

Went to a funeral for a guy that always jogged, lifted weights, and insisted on eating healthy. He was 48 and passed away from a cerebral blood clot.
Not saying I am against being healthy, just saying that it is not a guarantee for anything. Very fit surgeon, cycles to work, jogs, goes on hiking trips... had a heart attack and would've died if it were not for his anesthetist friend being at his place for a visit. Another chap, again very fit, does manual labor at the local supermarket... being transferred to a "better" cardiac unit as his case is too complex for what we do in our hospital. Bloke that lives across the street from me, early 40s, plays basketball on weekends, goes to the gym. Has also been to A&E twice for chest pains. It seems to be that "big" and "fat" aren't the only criteria for heart problems anymore.

Man I wish I heeded that advice. I think Stress is probably the biggest contributor to poor health yes smoking and over eating are also big contributors Combine all three and your a heart waiting to happen.
