Hey all,

Like the thread topic says, I want to ask about printing RAF_Louvert's maps. How do y'all go about it? I have one that should last me several in-game months (if I last that long) printed on regular letter-size paper, but the margins mean attaching them all together would be as big a pain as it is to swap between 'em all as I go. Do you folks have a better alternative?

Haha, fair enough. Looks like I need to get around to buying that second monitor.

I was thinking of printing and plastic coating, so I can add note on them each mission. And clear after with alcool.

Shredward, I used to have the map board strapped to my thigh but my foot would fall asleep on the long sorties.

But seriously, zifnow, if you open up the map you need on a second monitor or laptop you can draw in route lines and make notes via your favorite image editing program. I use Paint.NET myself.

I print the appropriate map out on paper (cropped/zoomed to my local area of operations).

A paper map is, for me, much better than having it on a screen as you can rotate the map to match you direction of travel.

I slip the map into one of those clear plastic sheet-protector sleeves and mark route etc with a dry-erase marker. Just wipe off with a cloth.

77_Scout, I did it that same way myself for a good long time and it works just fine, plus it has that "old school" feel about it.

VonPaulus, glad you like the digs, and while I know you've likely seen these before here are a couple more shots. However, these are from earlier this year and don't show the oscillating fan and castor oil spritzer I've installed above the main monitor. winkngrin

Damn, Lou, you have there the most WOFF-suiting cockpit, and maybe the barmiest headquarter
in the whole world of WW1-air-combat-simming! Lovely place!

Download the map of choice onto a Thumb Drive and take it to an outfit like OfficeMax. They'll print it out for you. Actual size. And laminate too.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

Keeping in mind of course that actual size, depending on which map you pick, will cover about 30 to 50 square feet of wall space - seriously.
