What is the worst/most disappointing sequel you ever saw?


For me, hands down:

Speed 2 Cruise Control

A decent enough action flick got a sequel that managed to misfire on just about everything. Bullock and Patric had worse chemistry than water mixed with water. Dafoe has done better work...just about everywhere.
Oh yeah, and a boat that won't stop.



The Jedi Master

For me it is definitely "Son of the Mask".


Just about everything was terrible about it. It was a movie with a 75 million dollar budget but it seemed more like a cheap B movie with tons of cheese.

First thing that popped into my head was "Matrix Reloaded."

There was a series that went from "F*** Me!" to "WTF?" in no time.

That rave party after Morpheus's speech was just so bizarre.

Highlander 2. Fans of the original generally try to forget that it exists.
Aliens vs Predator Requiem. I actually liked the first one, which most would say was bad enough, but even I can't stomach this one.

The first AvsP certainly had some cheese but at least it had Lance Henriksen and some well thought out combat scenes between the aliens, preds and humans. Requiem had ZERO redeeming qualities.

The Matrix sequels are hard not to bomb. The big "we are all in a simulation" thrill was revealed in 1. 2 and 3 only served to finish the story.

Still my best sci-fi series





It's hard to come up with the worst sequels... they're all from just so so to bad. How about good sequels hmm.. Terminator 2, Bourne 2 and 3, Lord of the rings.

IMHO, I thought "Reloaded" was ok but "Revolutions" was where everything came apart. By the end when you have Neo fighting Smith again I just didn't care anymore.

Jaws 3.

#2 was already going down in quality, but 3 is another level of bad.

Add Poltergeist III to the list.

I was more creeped out with the scenes where they have to cover for the girl actress' death than by the ghosts scenes.

Highlander 2 was the first that came to mind for me. Maybe not "worst," but "most disappointing."

I agree with pretty much every one mentioned already. Here's the next one after those that would come to (my) mind:

Blues Brothers 2000

Worst prequel:

Tie between Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

Actually, if pressed, AOTC is worse than TPM (conveyor belt chase and "I truly, deeply love you". Special mention: the "I hate sand" rant.)

Titanic 2.

Alien 3 was pretty disappointing given how good the first two were
