the templates only need to be released - since they all already exist.

It really isn't that simple.
Non destructively collapsing thousands of layers in each PSD is not easy, nor quick.

the longer it takes to release a template - the less interesting it is to see it released, as the number of people interested in downloading it dwindled.

I gave the F-5E template a look , I could make a template out of the elements already there, almost complete - but there are some elements missing which I need.

but ... I don't see why I should do it : if the developer is so lazy (yes : l-a-z-y ) as to provide the means to make its product more popular , why should I bother ?

To tell you the truth,if is well organized - I can make any template having the original layers without any trouble, even in gargantuan size. it is so easy to do it.

I do it all the time, as I don't use the original templates as provided , I use some of it only.

I am going to add links to them at LOF , sometimes I have the impression that the 3rd party developers (and for that matter the developer) do their best to make it harder to find their stuff, they sure are not helping themselves by not doing their best to support those (like us at LockOnFiles) that spend our free time doing nothing more than helping them make more money.

Actually, PolyChop had their template out within a week or so of release, and they made a forum post and updated the template three times. The question is why it is in the user downloads section rather than the templates section of the DCS website.

The MiG-21 was a bit different because the original template no longer works with the 1.5/2.0 model. Still, that template should be available on ED's webpage.

Which "original" for the -21 do You mean? The very first one was community-made and it's not compatible with post 1.5.x indeed, but I think the recent one posted by LN should work fine (though Rudel has been working on new spec maps for the MiG, so it will probably change soon).

For the F-86, only unofficial Skatezilla's one is available, abut at least he updates it immediately after any alterations to external model are made.

Spec Maps have nothing to do with UVW Coordinates,
The only thing new spec maps will change is the reflection strength, difference flare and inverse strength.

As for the F-86F Template, what more do you need over whats provided in mine?

Seriously, it has everything divided into layers, why ask BST to waste time condensing development PSDs down to Re-Distributable Level,

For? Seems like there is less detail than the FC3 aircraft to me?
