Its a slang term for infantry
Infantry are also called crunchies by tankers, I will leave it to your imagination as to why

How so? I still find the game to be extremely lacking for dismounts - even with the changes that were introduced in 4.0.

Steel Beasts is a armor crewman simulator. It is still missing the mark on ground combat as a whole. I estimate that this is not totally the fault of the developer - their development is dictated by their mil customers. If the mil customer doesnt want to use SB for combined arms tactics, then SB will always JUST be an armor crewman simulator. At the same time, how consuming would it be to add first person functionality to riflemen?

Even this morning I was playing a mission where a friendly rifle squad did nothing while an enemy rifle team passed in front of them. Line of sight was good, I was trying to force fire them like a madman using the 'T' button.

Riflemen need the same first person functionality as LMGs and ATGMs - sights and the ability to manually fire.

Quote:
Infantry:
o Slightly adjusted the markings generated by engineer teams
Fixed bug #4802; infantry with protection vests are now actually better protected
Fixed bug #4859; HE rifle grenades now really conform to the minimum (arming) distance
Fixed bug #4861; „Necromancer“ medics no longer practice their unholy rituals on enemy soldiers

I hope you realize the first half of the document is general 4.0 changes.

Well there seems to be a lot of new stuff in the notes regarding infantry. new weapons more functionality etc
But to be honest I am not a Infantry guy. I play SB for the armour.
I have only started to experiment with deploying troops With my latest mission. Border clash
So far I am happy with what I am seeing. I do agree though, implementing a sighting system for the infantry weapons is a good idea.
I too would like to see Esim further develop SB in a few areas. CAS aircraft being high on my wish list.
But the reality is SB is a armour simulation. that's its main focus.

All of those notes are from the baseline 4.0 patch. Just FYI, so you're not confused again in the future.

I agree - unfortunately. It is really limited.

I honestly think that SB can blow ArmA out of the water, and they don't even realize how little effort they would have to exert to do so. The AI control in SB is better, the new particle effects of 4.0 are now on par, the ArmA mission editor isnt even in the same class as SB (much better).
