LuseKofte, did you post build threads for your trim+button box and throttle quadrant? I'm intrigued. Also I'd love to read about your throttle Q rebuild when you get to it Cheers, C_G

so , after some test i can truly say THANK YOU BAUR ! you made my dream of a KG13 Stick come true , never again feel a normal joystick grip when it can be a KG13 for sure , i`ve installed it to my sim cockpit and been total in love since that moment pictures are not the best , but that beauty couldnt look bad at all. guys , if you have any doubt , forget them , Baur answers every email and the waiting is sometimes hard but when you get the parcel (or have to pick it up at the custom, like me) its total worth ! the BRD base is rock solid , i never seen that for a Stick before so thanks again Baur and greetings from a damm happy german c.kaupa aka paganizonda : http://live.warthunder.com/user/PaganiZonda/

Question for those of you who have bought a BAUR BRD stick: How's the gimbal and cams? I own a VKB Mamba, and love it. The movement is smooth, the controller precise, however, with my 20cm extensions, the center is too soft and could use a little dampening.
So, how is that done with the BAURs sticks? The gimbal looks hefty, there are dual-cams inside, and everything looks really high quality - but how does it feel to you? Some comparison with other sticks - esp. the Mamba - would be appreciated!
Thanks!
PS: Does anyone know if BAUR makes adapters for the TM Warthog or VKB Mamba grips?

Thanks for the detailed answer, Lausbub! Follow-up question - compared to your old Mamba, how does the center feel with the extended BRDs? Does it feel loose or does it feel a bit more tight? The reason I am asking is that when just touching my extended Mamba, it feels as if there is no resistance - it feels too light. It's not a bad thing, mind you - just something I would like not have. What I would prefer is a stick that is dampened around the center, and requires some more force to move. Baur's gimbal looks so hefty, with large springs, that I simply assume it feels more dampened by default. Can you share your experience with it? Especially considering the extension you described.

Thanks for the info, Sokol; that Warthog adapter looks really good. Baur's doing some amazing work there! I only recently got the BRD-F3 Rudders and love them. So, what is this about Russian "Bonfire of Vanities" that you're referring to? Are VKB and BAUR some sort of "enemy"? If so - how did that happen? I mean, it's all about the flightsim community, isn't it?

In the MK.I Mamba the center is very noticable because of the Gimbal Design. It uses a similar design like CH Products Joysticks. The center of my BRD is indeed very light with not much resistance. When traveling through the center you feel no bump, but you still know exactly when you are centered by feel because of the lowere resistance. But when you move the stick just a bit, maybe between 1-1,5cm the resistance builds up quickly. I imagine when I would use the strongest spring setting it would require less travel until the resitance starts to build up. There are 2 notches for the spring in each CAM Profile,so you have 3 possible strenghts for the spring. I'm using the middle setting,I imagine the lowest would be too light while the strongest would be too strong ,if I would need to hold the stick forward to fly level for a longer time. If the strongest setting would still be too soft you could propably use a stronger spring. As you own the BRD pedals,I guess there are also 2 different CAM profiles included? You can propably compare the "free center" one with the "free center" ones from my Stick.

Thanks again for the detailed description, Lausbub!
So I guess any spring-based gimbal has the same issue - while the spring is contracted, the center will be loose and that can lead to some potentially unwanted controller input, as the magnetic sensors register the slightest of movements.
I wonder if there are any types of dampers that can be added to a controller that makes the center somewhat less loose to begin with... That would be ideal imho. I had hoped that Baur had a solution for that integrated already by the means of the dual cam system.
Oh, and the Baur BRD pedals did only come with one cam profile... Which has a very light 'bump' in the middle, that can hardly be felt. Maybe that's the equivalent of what you're using?
