So, when is Wings Over Rabaul's Fields (WORF) coming out? Devs? I really wish we had a new PTO flight sim. IL2 is getting a bit old...

AceMedic, check out the link in my post above, that mod is several gigs big and really adds a lot to the base game

I thought this was a WWI WOFF forum???? It is. That's why there is an OT: in front of the thread name. It means "Off Topic".

I didn't have an itch until I saw this thread posted. Just downloaded Il-2 and have been playing the Pacific theater all day. Not bad at all!
Any mod recommendations by the people that play it? You really have to do some reading up on this depending on what you want. There are several huge "super mods" (if not in size alone!) that all do different things (like online vs offline) that work with different patch levels in the game. I just split the difference as I use Il2 just for the Eastern Front and use the Dadelios (sp) "unofficial official" patches.

Hellshade, Out of curiosity, I installed IL-2 VP Mod Pack and the graphics improvements are amazing. Check out post #6 below: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread....3758#post713758

Adger,
I saw your post. I wouldn't have known about VP Mod Pack otherwise.
I had written off IL-2...most mods were just too freaking complicated to install and manage, but VP Mod Pack seems extremely simple so far. Would be nice if there was some documentation from the author.
Too many games, too little time. Currently dividing my time between WOFF and Dragon Age Inquisition.

Too many games, too little time. Currently dividing my time between WOFF and Dragon Age Inquisition. It works, it's just a little unclear how to unpack it, took me a while to figure out... Make sure you copy over your whole IL2 folder as a spare before doing anything. Then downgrade using the supplied file from GOG which takes you to 4.10, then using the patch linked at the beginning of the page linked in my earlier post, upgrade to 4.12.2. The tricky part is that after you download all 16(!) parts of the vp modpatch, use 7Zip to extract the first one in your main Il2 directory (the one that is at 4.12.2)(Make sure it overwrites the files, this is the default setting I believe...) This will take forever because it is pulling from all the other .rar files you downloaded. When it is done, you can add the other optional patches. ( read the instructions on the first one, though, there is one folder you need to delete IIRC...) Then use the JSGME executable to select all the mods in the pack (assuming you want them all) and use the new il2fb executable to start the game!
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

Unpacking and installing was not a problem at all. Very straightforward. VP Mod Pack files including patches 1-5 total 10.7GB.
But knowing which mods to apply with JSGME is a little less clear...

BirdDogICT.yep a bit of documentation would be most helpful..regarding the JSGME options i haven,t enabled any. the only JSGME i have enabled is the Blitzkrieg addon for this pack.. Blitzkrieg Add On
