I have tried and read every thread and suggestion from the web and this form.

I hit Ctrl and Q 2 times out of 5 it locks up.

I have shelved it unless someone pulls a trick out of their hats.

Stopped the video / sounds and such.
Ran as administrator.
Reinstalled DX9.
Told Avira not to scan both MS CFS3 and OBDS.

I wonder if anyone has had luck with turning off the UAC?

The other suggestions as turning down clouds and such do not apply here.

I have installed WOFF #1 and #2 with the proper patches and in the correct order.

Gets frustrating flying for 40 minutes getting a kill then the game crashes before you can record it.

My Specs:
I7 6 core
16GB RAM
Geoforce GTX 960 4GB RAM
Windows 10 64 bit

Going off to play another game for now and leave the frustration behind.

Thank you for any help!

Salute!

I assume you have tried Ctrl/Shft/Q as an alternative?

Two suggestions I have to try is: see if any WoFF files or folders aren't set to read-only (long shot). Second, try running WoFF in compatibility mode. IIRC It was the only way Duke could play. Maybe he can chime in with his settings? Other than that, Pol is your best bet.

Wolfar;

If you haven't already done this, I recommend you read the official FAQ section "53" at the following link:
Official WOFF FAQ

If you follow the steps as indicated you can send off the necessary logs etc to WOFF support where they will be able to have a look and see if they have a solution for you.

What's your Operating System? When you are using Windows 10, it might be an Windows-Issue and has nothing to do with the Game.

I've had a similar Problem. After ending a Mission by pressing Ctrl+Q, I got a black Screen. I could hear the Music in the Background, but no Picture at all. Only pressing the Reset Button and restart Windows seemed to help.

This is what helped in my Case:
If you get a black Screen, please press the "Windows"-Key and "P", then "Cursor down" and then "Enter". Repeat that 2-3 Times, maybe more. Now you should get back your Picture and you should be able to continue the Game.

Seems that Windows is sending the "Picture" to another Monitor-Output. It's definetely a Windows-Bug! In my Case, the Problem appeared the first time after my last Anniversary-Update. Hopefully they release a new Update soon...

Wolfar.......keep the faith. You will LOVE this sim. It used to install and play perfectly, any quirks were immediately addressed by the devs....worked flawlessly for years and only with recent MS updates have the sort of issues you're dealing with started to pop up. They're frustrating and often difficult to track down and squash......but keep at it, check the threads and the work around will present itself eventually. Took me months to fix the Control Q crash end of mission issue. Turned out to be a matter of replacing "the simulation XML" for me. There's a thread here about it and with luck it may work for you! Carry on....it's worth it

Thanks people! Obviously I have been hanging out around here for long time. The members here are the reason I keep coming back.

I am going to try the monitor issue by shutting down my second monitor in windows. The reason I think it may be 2 monitors is I had that issue with OFF just before I bought WOFF. I had to turn off the second monitor just to play. Also when exiting my mouse jumps to the second screen that is when it freezes up.

Also will try Andy's suggestion if I get hung up again.

I have had crashes with my various installations of WOFF, but never a lock up. I am running W7 ultimate and UAC is OFF. I don't want Bill Gates telling me what to do or looking at what I am doing. For the same reason I have tried W8, W8.1 and various versions of W10 and hated them all.

I don't know if it helps, but I disable AVG antivirus and disconnect myself from ADSL before playing WOFF - just in case.

Now I can say I have tried everything here. MFair at least your trick allowed me to dump the game. It screwed up my desktop so bad I had to reboot anyway though.
