New airship design the biggest in the world on its maiden flight in the UK. I have always liked to concept of airships a cheap and environmentally friendly way to travel/move Cargo. It has been nicknamed the flying bum. http://www.msn.com/en-ie/news/world/worl...amp;ocid=AARDHP

I think "Arse Air" would've been a good name.
Isn't a sky full of zeppelins and blimps a sign of an upcoming totalitarian government? Mandatory happy pills for all citizens, everyone wears gray jumpsuits, no smiling EVER...

cheap and environmentally friendly way to travel/move Cargo. it can reach 16,000 feet, travel at up to 90 miles-per-hour
I don't know about cargo, but no way in hell I travel at 90 mph unless they make a Titanic kind of thing, at which point I can't afford it so no way neither.
When you're feeling sad, just remember that somewhere in the world, there's someone pushing a door that says "pull".

Where would they store the cargo, hanging down on lines? I take it would have to be external, assuming the whole of the inside is for the gas, Good idea for crossing large bodies of water though. Mick.

In WW2 American airships, or rather blimps, patrolled the American east coast hunting for U-boats.
Jayhawk, American radar provided early warning of the Japanese approach to PH. Higher ups said it was the expected B-17s.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.
