I am very anti-establishment and don't feel right whenever I see deleted posts, locked threads or banned users especially in a thread when the main subject is banning.

But hey as I said myself, community forums, personal relationships, and so on, not my cuppa. Have fun.

Schwalbe,

SimHQ allows topics to be discussed that many other forums do not...this thread being a good example. Attacking other members on
a personal level is not tolerated.

If you want a "prison rules" discussion forum...I suggest you look elsewhere.

When dealing with customers, I was taught by the boss that customers are always right, even when they are wrong. Because if something is right and the customer still sees it as wrong, something in the communication needs in any case to be corrected. This is what BUSINESS means. And, in the real world, if a customer finds something really wrong, he must be thanked for that, not "banned". And always in a polite way. Or "find another work", the boss used to tell me.

I quite agree with Schwalbe on the moderation subject. In fact, I never understood the need of moderation in a forum, except for banning immediately what is illegal in the non virtual world.

Btw, my two posts on this topic have been done at a "non personal level".

Moderation is needed to keep things on track. As Force10 said, you can discuss anything you want but do not go "below the belt." Conversations such as "You are WRONG on [topic] because of [proof]" is acceptable and encouraged but "You are WRONG and yo mamma so fat.... an yo's got a tiny peenis" isn't. biggrin

Moderation on a business forum is absolutely needed. The courts have shown you can be held liable for allowing slanderous and libelous comments to go un-moderated. Community forums are granted more leeway.

While an extreme possibility, disparaging MS in a public business forum can lead to MS suing the business as if the business themselves made the comments.

That is not even going into truly illegal activities. Not moderating illegal behavior and implicate the owner of a forum in the activity if they show no activities to moderate the activity.

Just curious (I've not the game on my PC now, I had to reformate the hd), as the mood on DCS forums is so explosive, could someone tell me if, in the latest patch, the virtual pilot in the Su-25 is back ?
I asked the question politely two times, after reading all these posts here, I think it's more careful not to ask it on the official forum a third time ;-)

No virtual pilot in Su-25.
As far as I can see only in Su-27, Su-33, P-51D and MiG-15

Thanks theOden.
The bug was supposed to have been reported two or three patches ago, I mean I can forget it.
Or get a refund ?

You forgot the C in RAF. Y2 is the code for 442 Sqn RCAF.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Troll, http://www.vintagewings.ca/VintageNews/S...l-Round-Up.aspx

Did you know that for some years the roundel was different for the RCAF and RCN.

Norwegian Spitfires of 331 Sqn (notice roundel)

What courts?! Where? Maybe the bloated US legal system, but I have yet to see an example. If that was the case, sites like Reddit would be swamped with lawsuits. And MS suing the business for user comments? I think you went overboard with this one. Just because a few countries (one in particular) have a bloated and archaic legal system based on precedent and don't mind wasting taxpayer's money on ridiculous lawsuits, does not mean we should all give in to the legal paranoia. Let's be real here, so far it's MS who is getting sued over Windows 10 over and over and they pay up. Not to mention the metdata gathering they do is completely illegal in quite a few European countries. So no, in the real world, they will not sue ED for my comments on their forum. They don't even bother going after people who pirate their software.

I guess I should have posted a smiley face or something. I can understand how the written word can be misconstrued sometimes. My post was tongue in cheek and for the record I'm a smart ass. I find that joking around when the subject gets tense helps to break the tension. That being said, there was truth in my statement to Skate. I "get" that he's helpful here but his constant attempts to justify some really crappy behavior by the mods (and himself) over there gets old over here. Force, I respect you. I also find it ironic that my post was removed that was written about an ED mod who removes other people's posts for much less of a reason. wink

Troll, and other members, lots of good articles on that site. Worth the time exploring.
