An Emirates Boeing 777-300 aircraft flying from India to Dubai has burst into flames at Dubai International airport just after landing.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-36963112

The video on this one shows the aircraft going up in a fireball after all 275 passengers and crew are off.

Now reports are coming in that the aircraft did a belly landing before bursting into flames.

Emirates Airlines are saying all passengers and crew got off and are safe.

Wind shear was reported in one of the links you posted Alicatt. Also one can see the starboard wing tip is on the ground and the engine is not attached to the wing.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Not seen that, but I did read this:

Quote:
Passengers on board said the pilot told them there was a problem with the landing gear and that he would be making an emergency landing, according to Indian media reports.

From the Yahoo link in the first post, the text in the article linked there has changed a few times since I first posted it.

Sad to say a firefighter lost his life fighting the fire frown

Quote:
A firefighter was killed while responding to a plane that crash-landed at Dubai airport and became engulfed in fire, the Emirates airline chairman has said.

The passenger jet, carrying 300 people, crash-landed at Dubai International Airport and burst into flames.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum told a news conference that 14 people were taken to hospital as a result of the landing.

The firefighter has been named as Jassim Eissa al-Baloushi on the Twitter account of Dubai's ruler , Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

He said Emiratis should be proud of how he died "protecting life and saving people."

The Emirates CEO had earlier confirmed there were no fatalities among the passengers or crew, who were safely evacuated.

Well, I don't know where the audio is captured from. Perhaps the tower and planes are a lot closer or better equipped to get the signal a lot better.

At least they had enough time to evacuate everyone before that wing exploded.

Is it possible the crew forgot to lower the landing gear? There is an unconfirmed report the tower had to remind the crew to lower the gear on approach. The gear is clearly not deployed in the photos I've seen and I've not heard of any delays while the crew tried to troubleshoot a gear problem while in flight.

Certainly wouldn't be the first time for such a mishap.

From what I've read you'd need to ignore warning signs to do that but stranger things have happened.

That is pretty awful. From the videos it definitely looks like some sort of landing gear failure was involved. I guess time will tell what exactly caused it. At least here they have the aircraft mostly in one piece, so can get the flight recorders quickly.

Not really, there's a few systems in place to make it very clear that the gear isn't down for landing. The radar altimeter yelling at you and the flaps in the landing position are two of those.
