Ooh, I know two of those planes personally!
That's Robert Baslee's SE5a, which is a helluva thing, really. One has to be a rivet counting type to spot the "problems" but for 25K (15 for the airframe kit, and figure 10K for the big VW engine with redrive) it can't be beat. I got to see its debut at Gardner two years ago - what a beast.
And Russ Turner's Camel is an amazing example of what can be done with Robert's kits. The darned thing is gorgeous and the attention to detail in getting it as close to the original in appearance is amazing.
I can't wait to see Russ' next one, which will have a built-as-new rotary Gnome engine in the front. Only Russ would take a 15K airframe and put an 85K engine on the front of it.
