Looks like an episode from that tv program "1000 ways to die" also I would at least be wearing some welders googles when that baby lit up.

Now that would make a satisfactory strobe. In
the 60s we were always looking for a good hefty
xenon bulb to construct a strobe that would
saturate a whole dance hall. One guy got a
surplus bulb from a navy plane, and made a
reflector out of the frame of an old fridge...
