Well, the deed is done!

I will be arriving at Dayton airport (united flight 3845) Sept 30th approx. 10:30 am.
I will be staying at the Red Roof Inn - Fairborn/Nutter Centre
Address : 2580 Colonel Glenn Hwy, Fairborn, OH 45324, United States
Phone : +1 937-426-6116

Departing for home Oct 3rd 06:40 am

Anyone staying at the Red Roof Inn, please PM me. Maybe we can save some money on transportation costs to and from the event by pooling.

If anyone else is travelling from the airport to the hotel in the same window please let me know as we may be able to share the ride costs.

Best Regards;

Robert, I'll be coming into town on September 30th as well but I won't arrive until mid-afternoon as I am driving all the way. Of course, this means I will have a car, and room for three more adults in it, provided we're all tending towards the svelt side, (said car is a 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage).

Well I am definitely on the svelt side at 160 lb, 5' 9". That said, I believe your hotel is some distance from mine so I am not sure how convenient it will be for you. Let me know what you think!

Robert, I drive hundreds of miles a week on a fairly regular basis. For that matter I am driving 750 miles just to get to Dayton. The nine miles or so between our hotels is NOT going to be an issue. biggrin

I'll be driving over the morning of the 1st, as I'm only 4 hrs away. I'll leave late as I can on the 2nd. I'm not far from the Red Roof Inn, (I'm at the Holiday Inn on Presidential drive, see above) and will likely have room for two more - both my son and my brother-in-law are coming now.

For my, any meet-up will have to happen the evening of the 1st, unless we form up for trooping around - a few groups that way might be nice! And we need some way to ID each other. I liked Olham's WOFF hat!

I am coming to this discussion a bit late. Suddenly it dawned on me that Dayton isn't that far from Madison. I'm in! I'll bus in to Dayton and rent a car. Done Deal.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

Well, lets see what we can work out.

What time would you want to be at the Airport at?

I'll be going by it to get home (North I75).

Monday I was planning on using to go through the museum - had not set a departure time as yet.
Thinking it would be around 3-4pm

My flight departs at 5 pm, so about 3 pm or so should be OK. I'll ask at the counter when I arrive if that time line is OK.

Thanks, and going with you to the museum would be just fine.

winkngrin Happy to give something back to the WOFF community.

Robert has been a big part of this also.

I hope to be there by 8am Saturday the 1st.

See you all then.

Unless... this note from the event people...

Just so you know in advance, the Federal government is subject to shutdown action on October 1 if the budget process does not pass. This would affect our event as the Museum is part of the Federal government. You will be advised as soon as we know anything if this course of action plays out.

I think I should be able to come up on Saturday late morning. Is there a rendezvous point at the show? By the WOFF tent perhaps?

I'm actually surprised that the show would be affected by a budget shutdown. I don't recall there being a lot of fed types there last year and the show was on federal property but not at the museum per se.

Hope this doesn't cancel the show. It was quite something two years ago.

After a quick consultation with my Wing Commander, I'm in. I'll be staying at the Red Roof nearest the airfield.

Is there a list I should 'sign up' for or an itinerary of what's going on? (Aside from what's available through the Museum website of course.) Did I see something about a WOFF tent?
