Article says 1070 is out -- buy it now before the stock disappears.

It confirms the lack of 1080 stock and high prices.

Everyone knows both cards are in very high demand at launch, and also that availability and pricing will settle over the next month. No need to make such a big deal over it just because your flag's nailed to the other mast.

In all seriousness, I posted above to "help". Some folks here seem want their cards "now". So, since I saw the "news" regarding 1070 hitting the market, I passed it along. Nothing more sinister than that. smile

Apologies for misinterpreting your intentions. I do however think that anyone so keen to get their hands on one would be clued up enough to know the details of their availability, including the fact that it's likely to be rather limited for a week or two.

Agree. My post was on the "off chance" someone needed the info. Only took a minute to post. smile

Gigabyte Unleashes GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming Water Cooling Graphics Card – Up To 1936 MHz Clock Speed, Fully Custom PCB and Cooler For Pascal

..The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming Water Cooling as the name suggests might sound like a regular GTX 1080 slapped with a water block however that’s not the case. The latest card from Gigabyte is a GTX 1080 that has been pumped up to the max with a monstrous PCB that is fitted with top of the line components...

Meh, it's a built-in AIO cooler there. I'd be more impressed if it was just a full-cover waterblock like you could get from EKWB, XSPC, etc.

On the other hand, having provisions for a front-panel HDMI header for VR's sake is a pretty nifty idea, so long as they include the header in the box. I wouldn't mind having something like that for my Rift down the road.

A few pics and quick comparison of a 'Founders Edition' GTX 1080 and a Palit Super Jetstream GTX 1080 with a quick run of the Firestrike benchmark.

There are no manual overclocks on the Jetstream....out of the box it has a base clock of 1708MHz and Boost Clock of 1847MHz.

Size and Scale
It's difficult to see here but the Jetstream absolutely dwarfs the Founders Edition card. The Jetstream takes up 2.5 slots and this is mainly due to the larger heatsinks on the card.

Jetstream running idle
The fans don't turn until it hits approx 60 degrees so it's silent at idle and still inaudible when the fans spool up.

Firestrike Benchmark
I was a little surprised to see that on load the Boost Clock ramped up to 1987MHz without any tinkering at all. Also the max temp was 68degrees, in comparison the founders edition 1080 ramped up to 79degrees during the same test so the cooling improvement is obvious there.

Nice smile

I was hoping my EVGA 1080s would ship this week but it looks like any stock that Overclockers got went to people who'd pre-ordered before me. I'm still lucky I got in when I did, the cards are now over 5% more expensive than when I ordered them.

Nice cooler on that Jetstream thumbsup is the fan noise lower than founder's edition due to better temps?

The fans are completely inaudible - I've only run a few benchmarks and played a couple of game so far but my rig is pretty much silent...certainly can't hear the fans over the very slight hum that the overall system is providing. I must admit when I first put the JetStream card in I left the side-panel off as I wanted to be sure that the fans were going to spool up under load (because they don't spin when the card is idle or when GU temps are <60C) but even with the panel off I still had to check they were physically spinning because you just can't hear them.

The 'Founders Edition' card wasn't much louder to be honest, once that spooled up you could only hear it when the temps were close to 80C.

Cripes, just found out I'm #71 in the queue at overclockers and it'll be next week before they even have more details on new stock.

Wow, finally a nicely priced upgrade from my GTX 780!

I’ll be picking up a 1070 as soon as my local computer store has them in stock.

Great thread!

Never heard of her winkngrin

I was 16th in the queue for my iChill 1080........in the end cancelled it and selected an alternative (Superclock Jetstream) from eBuyer as it was cheaper and in stock.

One day nobody has any stock, then yesterday I checked and there's lots of stock! screwy

I picked up my ASUS Strix 1070! Nice card! The box says it runs at 1632Mhz core but I regularly see it running at about 1950Mhz and I haven't touched anything in terms of overclocking. Sweeeet. thumbsup

I was also surprised that the card only needed one power feed! My GTX 780 needed two. Looks like this thing will pay for itself in no time! LOL!

My 2007 Dell 720 liquid cooled gem was finally put out to pasture yesterday. From dual 8800's to its Core Duo 3.0 Ghz guts, all of 4 GB DDR2!! Even upgraded with SSDs and a 580GTX, it was lame and wouldn't run Star Citizen, where I've got some ships (okay, a lot of ships).

For $2100 after tax I bought a hotrod. Intel Quad Core 6700 @4.16Ghz, Nvidia 1070 8GB, 16GB DDR4, USB3c, Display Port to a Dell Ultra 27". Getting a new desk and external drives this week from amazon.

The new rig plays anything I throw at it at max settings with incredible framerates, at 2560 x 1440 rez. Arma III, Star Citizen, DCS A-10, X-Plane 10, all maxxed out, smooth as a whistle. Amazing, and setup for VR if I get a headset someday. I have my X-55 HOTAS already and I'm ready to rock.

I was hoping AMD would have a GTX 1070 competitor to tempt me and push prices, I'm always hoping they will have another hit like the 5870, one of my favorite cards ever...

But after waiting a couple of months since 1080/1070 release with nothing but crickets from them on anything competitive, and the 1070 prices staying stable, I finally gave up on them and went ahead and ordered the EVGA GTX 1070 FTW.

Should be great for Ultra settings at 1080p and my occasional 5760x1080 on some sims.
