I'd venture a guess and say you tried to use it as if it was a modern partially serrated, not pocket friendly 4 inches, spring assisted locking knife?
That's on you buddy. It's a small, lightweight, non-locking knife, the polar opposite!
When you're feeling sad, just remember that somewhere in the world, there's someone pushing a door that says "pull".

Swiss Amy, lock blade (Buck or SOG usually) and an SOG multitool are all very often on me at any one time. Different tools for different jobs. But you will never get my 30 year old Swiss Army knife out of my clutches.

I’m convinced only executives and ladies use them to manicure their nails! My favorite pocket knife is a blade locking spring assisted 4” half serrated drop point but I managed to break my last one so I started using a stupid Swiss Army knife. Nearly cut my finger off and I felt like a pussy using it. You use it to tactically slice bread, or what? I used to carry a Buck Ghost Rider, I miss it just thinking about it. Now I also find out they're discontinued. So now I mostly carry a Swiss Army Knife, one the ones with a locking thing. It's ok, the tweezers see more use than the actual blade.

Swiss Army knives are a compromise.
Nothing in a Swiss Army knife is as good as its specialized and dedicated counterpart. Nobody reaches for a Swiss Army knife to open a bottle when a proper bottle opener is next to it. When a branch needs to be sawed off a tree, no woodsman prefers a Swiss Army knife.
You can't blame a Swiss Army knife for being what it is.

A big chunky Leatherman is my pocketknife of choice.

I've carried a Victorinox Swiss Champ for nearly 25 years now. The same one actually, it's still good as new.

I love mine, as well as both multitools. Especially the Switchplier. I'm sure my everyday use wouldn't be considered heavy by any means.

I also carry a Swiss army knife, albeit just the small Classic. It comes in handy for little things here and there or when I'm too lazy to get a proper tool. I also have the Swisscard classic, which I bought as sort of a novelty when I was in Switzerland. The only tool I don't like in it is the pen because once you run out of ink, well, it's useless.
I did have a Gerber but years ago I realized that I had it in my carry on bag at TSA and I didn't have time to get it checked into my luggage, so rather than let TSA have it and bring it home to their kids or personal use, I threw it away. Heartbreaking. I now have a silly Skeletool knock-off instead, but it was free.

Just like Billzilla, my choice is a Leatherman multi-tool.. specifically the Surge.
Linebacker, my wife tried to get on a plane with that Swisscard and the TSA took the little knife (emergency blade (letter opener).

Many were fixed blades, but even the folding knives didn't break at the joint, but up toward the front. I just wasn't impressed with them.
