Copy dgvoodoo's exe and all d3d files (3 of them in Janes/Fa-18/) , then check first post an set-up things accordingly.

Don't expect final product for now, there is problem with menu's screen redraw and mouse offset aspect
.. OTOH , very much has already been accomplished, 3D world is running perfectly, as it seems..

Here's the report!

I can run the game with dgVoodoo2 with the following rig :
Q9550S CORE 2 QUAD OC 3.4Ghz, MSI P35 NEO2-FR, GTX650 1GB DDR5, TWINX CORSAIR DDR2 4X1024MO, SAMSUNG T133 300GB 7200RPM 8MB, LG L1954TQ-PF 19” @ 1280x1024, GREEN POWER 400W, OS : Windows 7 64 bit, Jane's FA-18 full install (TSHv3.06)

dgVoodoo2 settings are the ones posted in white_fang first post, but I have found out that :
- I need to run in WP SP3 compatibility mode
- A specific nVidia Inspector profile means systematic CTD
- The game must run on a single core
It might be specific to my PC, but anyway it works!

The click on the right frame of the window is not big deal.
The mouse offset... nope What an hindrance... I prefer tanker's belly-dance.
But let's hope this (offset) issue is fixed.

yea' hm... it is a bit different procedure then here on Win8.1x64 , I don't need any compatibility mode.but!,

You did TSH3.06 , I was testing original (nocd) f18 v1.01F, exe, with some patches.
Tsh has different exe and wrapper.dll and even more changes to the engine itself, so hence, probably that
is the reason for need of compatibility mode + you're on Win7x64.
I recall that I was running original JFA18 on Win7(cant remember was x32 or x64) only with compatibility mode for XpSp3.
So, at least it worked. On Win8.1 it didn't work at all, even with comp. mode. That's why all the trouble.

Can You try a clean (original) installation (no Tsh) ?

Now I have (3 versions installed) , Clean, TSH306 , TSH4 ... but I need some time to test all the stuff..
(i want a play , fly a little more wink )

And also I have ATI5770 so , 'Sky banding' and 'Black sea squares' is torturing me whole life wink
(DxTweaker was solving this miraculous, but it had some stability problems , crashing on mission exit and vsync,
so called 'carrier crabbing'. A2A refueling was something you couldn't do at all, S3B Viking was 'jumping' left/right.
You're lucky with Nvidia. (Ya'know that bug is so old since game itself, ATI / Nvidia, freakin???huh )

I've got some old hardware (agp i865 board) and 2x old agp cards ati2600/ nvidia quadro, so I did XPsp3 install, and fired up JFA18.
Sky banding was present on ATI(512dd3) and not on even weaker NVIDA(64ddr1). But, since JFA is from '98. this is
'superior' hardware to work on it.
Best guess is that ATi f***edup even their old drivers (7.12) and dropped support for DirectDraw/Direct3D7.
Later I've heard Nvidia was doing that also, but ppl complained, so they put it back.
No such luck with ATI/AMD I'm afraid,... bastards....

GOOD call for limiting affinity to single cpu, I've wrote that info here on SimHQ (in Janes'F18 archives, 'Menu music')
since 2012 or so, you can still find it.
MPS systems are culprit of many bugs in JFA18 , but that was easy fix, just limit to one core and that's it.


Dgvoodoo is evolving anyways, Dege said that he'll even eventually get to our specific, he has us on his mind.
