Initial build till "mo' money." If anyone has additional build ideas I am all ears.

Not that my current T6 miner is doing a poor job but I have been doing a lot of reading and apparently the small mining lasers for the "6" are pretty inefficient compared to the medium version in regards to "chunk production." And I want to speed things up with more collectors. The faster the process the closer I can get to the RES's. Was actually shot at my last trip (ironically by an AspE) but by clever asteroid dodging he never hit and the speed of the "6" got me away though the pirate followed for a while hence time for some weapons.
Getting ready to set out on a final mining trip with the "6" and hopefully if I make enough credits I can keep the "6" also reverting her back as a trader.
Could do both now but one or two rebuys may bankrupt me. Not ready for another "Ironman" restart....yet. Like to get my Python again.

Looks good! This is my mining build (not yet built.. but SOON).

I really wanted the 8 bin refinery to avoid micromanaging all the time, but I guess if you are more selective about which asteroids to prospect it doesn't matter.

Recluse Mining ASP

I loaded it for bear with weapons...but I made this build before Patch 2.1, when it was also possible to be a capable bounty hunter with this. No longer, so your build with the capability to run like hell and drop mines is probably a better bet with the current killer AI.

I will also trade up to a better Life Support. 15 minutes has saved my a$$ more than once.

My build is twice the cost of yours largely because of the uprated Powerplant and Thrusters to support the weapon load.
Also tired of manual docking in my mining Cobra, so I dropped one cargo space to have a docking computer.

Yep. Micromanaging is the main reason I went to a six bin refinery. I am pretty asteroid selective but with the 4 bins on the "6" I had to intercede every couple of minutes anyway. Your build is looking mighty fine too. Personally I would forgo the DC but it all depends on your style and how you wish to have fun. And that's the point of a darn video game - have fun!
For me, with a joystick and TrackIR, docking IS almost fun.

I enjoy docking, but sometimes it is still a pain to find the mailslot on a Coriolis, though I have gotten much better at it. I find after flying a ship with a docking computer I get used to Zeroing the throttle and kicking back, or even getting up from the computer. When I try it with my Cobra Miner without a DC.. it takes me a few minutes to realize why I am not going anywhere smile

Also, when coming back with a load, beaten up, having been shot at and interdicted several times, I like the convenience of a DC. Good to keep in practice for manual docking, though.

Yes indeed.
Now if it only didn't take up module space you would have a convert.
Good luck!

You're honestly probably going to want another pair of collector limpets active at any given time. Especially with a cargo capacity on the order of around 96-108 tons, you'll be able to strip/ load/ move on much, much faster.

Thank you sir.
Actually I was leaning that way but it was a cargo space thing as in I was reluctant to give up any.
But, as a practical matter, if you only haul valuable ore (which I do) I have not come close to filling up the 80 cargo space T6.
I will make the switch.

Looks good! 96 tons is plenty, honestly. I'm personally running a 7 bin refinery and usually go for whatever is hot on the missions board, and usually haul in a couple million or more per trip. Just keep a close eye on your target end market.

Well this AspE miner setup is certainly much more efficient and speedy.
The two medium mining lasers make quick work of any asteroid and the 4 limpets scoop it up fast.
And perhaps its luck but my first three asteroids have been quite the money makers.
Nice all around!

EDIT: Whew! I was so busy admiring my new coolness as a miner I let 3 ships sneak up on me. Luckily they were all system security!
