Very nice. Will this be available for download on Steam? I can't see the Twitter link you posted since it's blocked at my job. Yes. It is only free for Steam users with the above conditions. The console versions are for PS4 and XB1, so they do not get it for free. Ok that's great news. I'll download it tonight. I'm completely done with Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 so now is a good time to replay Skyrim.

Will it make combat less tedious... That is the main reason I always stop playing skyrim. Love everything about it except the combat which is so poorly done. I doubt it, since this is more like an engine update, adding DX11 and 64bit native executable, with several graphic improvements. Skyrim combat is tedious on the lower level characters, and very easy once you level above 25. That said, there is a mod for that - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56147/?

Will this support all mods or just the ones on Steam? Is Fallout 4 really better looking than modded Skyrim as it is now? I have very few, graphical mods. It's a great looking game to this day as it is.
I see benefit just from "formally" accepting mods and not having to launch from SKSE. Just want to be able to move my mods over. I'm pretty attached to some of these. LOL They didn't mention if this will ruin your current ongoing game. I can't see how it wouldn't. I hope it isn't an automatic update.

No direct mod porting. Different version of the engine, plus 32bit code Vs. 64bit. There will need to be some porting involved by mod developers.
Steam Workshop not supported (Bethesda manages mods now from the interface, requires Bethesda account), Nexus mods, yes, but will require updates to Mod Manager, SKSE, ENB, etc. Just like with Fallout 4.
it is not much a matter of looks than stability (Fallout 4 for me is solid, while Skyrim is mostly stable and since I run close to the 3.2 GB limit on textures, can't add more).
This is no update. It is an additional game to be added in your library. You can still play the original

Ah ok. If we can have the old one installed alongside the new one there's nothing but benefit.

Be glad it's not November 11th Can't argue with Free, but they might as well have updated some models and textures. Especially some of the clutter textures are very awful in the base game, and the models are low on polygons by today's standards. If they include the HD pack (I guess that will be default) and maybe polish up the world a little it might be interesting. Mostly however this seems like a chance for console owners who haven't played it yet.

I've still only played it once, this might motivate me to play it through again.
However, almost every RPG I've ever played I've only done once. I think KOTOR 1 is the one exception, played that once light side male and once dark side female. I just remember the game so well, and they take so long to play, that I find going through the same story line as a mage instead of a thief very similar. Even FPS games I tend to wait at least 5+ years before playing a second time.
RPGs that have received only a single run: KOTOR 2 Mass Effect Mass Effect 2 Mass Effect 3 Fallout 3 Fallout NV Skyrim Witcher 1 (still on it though) Oblivion (only a few hours into it, I started it only recently but have largely neglected it for Witcher)

18 days away! Current Skyrim Legendary with all dlc is currently $20 at Amazon and has Steam activation, saving you $20 over Steam direct: https://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Sky...keywords=skyrimhttp://www.pcgamer.com/skyrim-special-ed...uffer_pcgamerfbThe system requirements for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition have been revealed, and I hope none of you were expecting that they'd be more or less the same as they were for the original release. They are not. Come on, are you surprised? The original Skyrim is five years old, after all, and no, that's not exactly an eternity in the realm of PC hardware, but it is an awfully long time. The minimum required spec for Skyrim OG was a 2.0 GHz dual core CPU, 2GB RAM, and a DX9.0c-compliant video card with 512MB of RAM. I'm pretty sure my phone packs a heavier punch than that. So here's what you're going to need if you want to roam the prettier-than-ever lands of Skyrim SE: Minimum: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit Version) Intel i5-750/AMD Phenom II X4-945 8GB RAM 12 GB free HDD space Nvidia GTX 470 1GB /AMD HD 7870 2GB Recommended: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit Version) Intel i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 8GB RAM 12 GB free HDD space Nvidia GTX 780 3GB /AMD R9 290 4GB Bethesda has previously announced that Skyrim SE will be free for people who already own "all the Skyrim stuff" that's already been released. More specifically, as it explained on Steam, that means anyone who owns the original game and the Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn DLCs, or the Skyrim Legendary Edition, which is all of the above in a single bundle. That's really the way to go if you're looking to leap into the land of the Nords for the first time: Skyrim SE will sell for $60, while the Legendary bundle is $40. You've got until the Skyrim SE release date of October 28 to pick it up if you want the free upgrade.

XBox what? Does not compute... Yeah... hopefully they release some PC footage soon. But as console versions go, if this looks this good, there is hope for an epic PC remaster.
